Oh boy, I am frightened.

Has he been promised to be in a certain group?

IIRC, this year he's not there as part of a scientific study; they're running this session for the benefit of the kids who've been participating all these years, right?

I hope he gets a lot out of it!

That makes me feel better.

I also acknowledge you, Buff, for having your life designed such that you can give him this opportunity.

Hats off to Marley for his Bored memory: indeed, nothing to sweat, Lil' Buff is in a program specifically for the veteran kids. It isn't part of the research program--it is purely treatment. It may be no less tough on the little guy as a result--but I am over my tantrum from a couple of summers ago about this--he needs what he needs and right now what he needs most is to understand, as he careens toward adulthood, that sometimes you have to do hard things.
