I came up with a Uly-style avatar of the day, a recent visit to Beale St. in Memphis. Happy birthday Beebs!

I love the avatar! I want it! Thanks Snaxx and youse guys--I was hoping to sorta ignore this one, even though it is an even number.

I'm closer to 80 than 20. And thanks, Uly, for reminding me. Really. I mean it. Trust me. One day, when we meet, you'll just, you know.

But, ya know what? Today, right now, I feel MAHVELOUS.

Until the consultants come and wreck everything.
Well, then

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Did you treat yourself to new shoes? I'll see if I can find you some that'll intimidate those pesky consultants.

Ok, I found you some pointy shoes. They might be a bit uncomfortable for work but you can get those cornered cockroaches. Oh, for those interested, the Manolo recommends this style called the Cary by Donald Pliner.

Have a great one, oh Great One! No matter what the number is . . . you most certainly don't look it!

And, those shoes of Uly's should work wonders on the consultants.

Here is a little something to help stay in shape (and in style).

They were all out of melange, so I got you some saffron.

Happy Birthday.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
