Happy news....

#1 Post by ulysses5019 » Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:13 am

...amidst the wedding blogs and teenage angst.
Yesterday my parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. It's sort of funny since I'm 62 years old.
I didn't mention it before because my sister did all the work. I just wrote out a check and took photos. There were over 100 friends and family including at least two of the great grandchildren. It was a joyous occasion filled with much love and happiness. Much like their marriage.
Of course there was much hilarity as the old family super 8mms were dragged out and shown.....including little uly at D-land (nope, no PlayIt!) and Marineland and other embarrassing scenes.
So good luck to Gordon's BD and FSIL. It can be done.

Congrats to ulyparents! I have to laugh at my mom - any conversation involving both my oldest bro's birthdate and their anniversary triggers immense confusion on my mom's part, and a sudden need to leave the room.

Congrats to your parents!!!!!!!

Hmmm, on July 8th Margaret and I will only be 30 years behind them. :D

I was also at a party yesterday--self serving addendum to this post. The local bridge club had a "life master" party for me. It was nice as several players (including a somewhat regular partner) drove up from Bismarck for the event. My daughter also attended as she home for the weekend to "ease the marriage tension". Margaret wanted to paint one of the spare bedrooms for our guests (her sister/husband--and daugther/grand daughter) that will be with us for 10 days in July. Since I am of little help in the painting area, Jenny did a lot of "easing".

Wow! WTG, Ulyrents!!

The shocking thing about that entire post is that Uly is 62!! If you've met Uly, you know he doesn't look a day over 59.

Seriously, though, I'd have pegged you at 53. Tops.

On the Fourth of July, my parents will celebrate Anniversary #44. I haven't seen any old 8mm videos of them, but I have lots of pix of their honeymoon destination, the 1964 Worlds Fair in New York.

I'll pay money to see those Uly DL videos!

And congrats to your parents. Mine made it to 64 years before my dad died.
Many more happy years to yours.

Congrats to your parents!

You are as old as my mom??? Then again my mom is, like 39ish herself. This means she, like a Tribble, she was practically born pregnant (with me).

OK - this starting to hurt.

Since Uly and I are of the same age (groan) I find it wonderful news that his parents are celebrating such a momentous occasion. Mine made it to 48 years and David & I are at 37 now. It can be done.

I wish them all the best.

I need to clarify a point. I was just kidding about being in my 60's. I was born in 1950 hence reversal of numbers in my handle. There were a lot of other Ulyssessssss when I signed up for my Hotmail account.

Didn't you notice the Raisinets?

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

I knew you weren't in your 60s, but I didn't say anything. I figured that anybody as old as you probably forgets a lot.
