Golden Moldies

#1 Post by SportsFan68 » Mon Jun 23, 2008 9:45 am

This song was #1 for four weeks in 1961. Name the artist:

As I walk along I wonder a-what went wrong
With our love, a love that was so strong
And as I still walk on, I think of the things we've done
Together, a-while our hearts were young

I'm a-walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder
I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder
Why
Ah-why-why-why-why-why she ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway, run-run-run-run-runaway

------ Musitron solo ------

I'm a-walkin' in the rain
Tears are fallin' and I feel the pain
Wishin' you were here by me
To end this misery
And I wonder
I wa-wa-wa-wa-wonder
Why
Ah-why-why-why-why-why she ran away
And I wonder where she will stay
My little runaway, run-run-run-run-runaway
A-run-run-run-run-runaway

Runaway by Del Shannon.

Coincidence -- Yesterday, Runaway was on the radio when we were driving home.

We were trying to remember the name of the TV show with Dennis Farina and Bill Smitrovich that Runaway was the theme for. Set in Vegas.

But I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called.

Good job, Hermillion and Mellytu!

I googled farina, smitrovich, and runaway and got Crime Story.

THAT'S IT!!!

It was driving us crazy on the way home.

I forgot to look it up last night and have been too busy at work until about 10 minutes ago.

Del Shannon did some backing vocals on Jeff Lynne's solo album Armchair Theatre. Very pretty.

He was supposed to join the Traveling Wilburys after Roy Orbison died, but Shannon died before that could happen.

Del Shannon is dead?

I didn't know that.

I always liked "Searchin'" and his version of "Handy Man."

He shot himself in 1990, while on Prozac and maybe some cold medicine, and soon after dental surgery.
