Floral appointment tomorrow. Finalize the table settings and other stuff. Not me. I get to rearrange the basement. Floral arrangements ain't my thing.
My mom is getting into the act. We're looking for a chuppah, the traditional Jewish canopy, to rent for the ceremony. My mom's town had a Jewish store that I thought might do that sort of thing, but I couldn't locate its name. Called her, and she says it's out of business. However, she knows some local women who had made a chuppah years ago and rented it out. She has gotten in touch with the group member whose phone number she knows, who will be contacting the woman in charge of scheduling the rentals. The price Mom recalls, though out of date, still probably updates to something reasonable. We shall see.
Why are shower games either tacky, stupid or borderline obscene (or crossing that border)? My MOTHER is going to be there, for heaven's sake! GW is having trouble finding things to do or play for the shower. It may just be eat, drink and schmooze. And play with the youngest attendee, my three-month-old grandniece. Hey, we invited ALL the women!
Not many ladies will be there, but there seem to be three age clusters: >75, 50-55 and ~25. They don't all fit into these niches (see the paragraph above), but it was interesting to see the 25-year spacing. The near-zero age completes another gap of that length.
The front stairs should be entirely completed when we arrive home tonight. They were in place and setting up yesterday, and today was the cleaning and installation of the railings. They look very nice. Brick sides and front with granite treads and platform. GW now wants to repave the walkways with granite. Next year, dear. Let's keep the side expenses down just a bit.

When I was showered, we had the visit, eat, ooh and ah thing. My Matron of Honor (childhood best friend who lived out of town) was not able to attend, but sent her "gift" with the help of the local hostess.
