K-State takes a direct hit from Tornado last evening

K-STATE STORM DAMAGE MAY EXCEED $20 MILLION; NUCLEAR REACTOR UNDAMAGED
MANHATTAN -- Storm damage at Kansas State University is estimated to
exceed $20 million, according to Tom Rawson, vice president for
administration and finance.

"The damage on campus is extensive," Rawson said. "Roofs have been
damaged or torn off, windows have been blown out in many buildings.
Weber Hall is severely damaged. The Wind Erosion Lab is gone. There is
significant damage to the engineering complex, and to Waters, Call,
Cardwell and Ward Hall."

We never sold our home in Manhattan - its a townhome with 2 units, we own both, and therefore, have tenants. I called them this am, and they are all fine. The tornado hit Manhattan at 11:15 pm last evening. They went to the basement and under the stairs - strongest part of the home.

However, the house at the end of the cul de sac, has damage, and the trees behind that home are damaged. So much so that you can see the homes behind there. Generally, you can NEVER see the homes behind those trees.

Just Southwest of this area, is destroyed. There was a brand new True Value store that is gone, a Meinke muffler shop, and a Honda dealership that were pretty badly hit.

Thank goodness no one was hurt.
