American Idol Redux

#1 Post by Sir_Galahad » Thu Jun 05, 2008 12:50 pm

As I had posted I was not much of a fan of Jason Castro. But, today on the radio, I heard what sounded like the full version of his rendition of Over The Rainbow / Wonderful World. (I didn't know that it was him for certain as they did not announce the artist and I do not know of any other artist that did those songs the way that Izzy did them except for Jason.) But, the long and short of it is that I really liked whoever performed song - even if it was Jason. I don't know that I would download it as I already have Izzy's version but I thought it was done very well.

I know that there is a teenage girl who does a Rainbow/World medley, in a manner similar to Izzy. I had been thinking that my daughter could do a lyric solo to it when she is 8 years old.

P.S. Here is the link to a YouTube video of Aselin:

You can't download Jason's version of the song. American Idol took down the songs the day after the competition ended.

I WAS a Castro fan, and downloaded about 7 or 8 of his songs, and his studio versions are just lovely. Someone was talking about the difference between "presentational" and "representational" singers, and Jason was a classic representational singer. He really feels and translates the songs beautifully, but doesn't come across as well on a big stage. I didn't much care for Sting's Fragile, but now Jason's version has become one of my favorite things to listen to, and I can't believe he ended up in the bottom 3 after singing that.

And he seems like a great kid. I bet his mom and I would get along like a house on fire...
