Chicago Jeopardy! Audition

#1 Post by ne1410s » Wed Jun 04, 2008 8:07 pm

Auditioned at the Westin-Lake Michigan at 11:30. There was an audition at 9 and another scheduled for 3 pm. There were 18 in our group. All 18 were interviewed and played the game--actually the other way round. The fifty question test was basically garnered from very low level Round 1 questions. But, eight seconds does go by quickly! I know--don't ask--I know I got 48 correct. I left two blank. I would give 14 of the 18 a chance to get the call. Nine men, nine women. Several from Northern Michigan, a couple from Indiana, one from Louisville, several of us from Illinois. I was the oldest one there--this is happening more and more. Grr!

What a great experience compared to WWTBAM auditions! The lead producer was an absolute stitch. And the others seemed genuinely happy to be there and went out of their way to help us and make us feel welcome.

More when it comes to me...

So are all these Jeopardy auditions only for people who already passed the online test?

I missed the online test (found out about it one day late) so I'm waiting for another opportunity to come around...

Yes. Getting an invite is like winning the lottery: just dumb luck. Well, of course, you do have to pass the online test...

So I guess the only thing I can do is wait for the next online test. I don't think I'd be good at Jeopardy either, but now I have the game show bug!

Just let it run its course. You should feel better in 40 years or so.

Take it from me...J! is about as much fun as you can have with 2 other people with your clothes on.

NE1, hurray for you. I was so excited when I got my e-mail that I had to run right here and jump up and down. I notice that you were calm, collected, and quiet. You always were cooler than me!

Come swim over here in my part of the pool. The bartender/lifeguard will bring us drinks any minute now.

:D

It's amazing, isn't it? For most of us, to be exposed to the game-show virus once guarantees a life-long chronic infection.

Thanks, sliv. We can tread water for a while and then a rousing game of Marco Polo. Repeat if necessary.

Ya know, SC, when I got back to my car I felt like I had been drug through a knothole. I didn't realize just how much this meant to me.

So what is the process now? Is it sit and wait for a call? Is there any type of time frame?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm trying to learn about all the process for all the different shows...

Pretty much. If they want you, they call you...in my case, about 10 months after the audition. In fact, I had moved in the meantime, and they got me through email first!

J! is different from BAM in a lot of ways. For one, they don't look at being over 30 as a problem. They also love it when people are fans of the show! They love self-deprecating humor, and realize that the primary thing to look for when casting contestants is to find smart people who know how to play the game.

Cool...thanks for the info!

I'll definitely try for it next time there is an online test. Yeah they do seem better about just casting smart people, it's not like they're all pretty and shiny on that show. Course I don't necessarily think BAM is like that either, but maybe more so than Jeopardy.

Just make sure he doesn't scoop them up from the pool.

Congrats and good luck! Remember, age and treachery wins out over youth and enthusiasm.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Always glad to see some good news. Good luck to you when (not if) you get on the show.

Just a reminder that I was called 21 months after my audition (May 2006 to February 2008), so the time frame is stretch-able.

Hope your call comes sooner, but later is pretty cool too!
