Apparently, the early ratings news for the show was very good. Keep in mind however, that summer ratings are relative. Shows that fare well against reruns of Extreme Makeover Home Edition often do much more poorly against regular season shows. However, it looks good for the remainder of the summer season.
Other than Password, almost all the other replacement game/reality shows seem to have been dredged from the bottom of the pond.

Spoiler
I was mildly annoyed by the audience applause after each word was guessed correctly. Why not wait until after the 90 seconds are up? It not only robs the clue-giver of precious seconds, but potentially serves as a major distraction. I think that may have been the case with the first contestant. The second contestant was pretty impressive with his facial expressions while giving clues. I can see why he went for it--the $250,000.00-- he and Neil had been doing so well, but was a little bit surprised he took a gamble considering his recent misfortune, hopefully he has a good renter's insurance policy.

Sorry for smearing you there. I knew that I yanked somebody's crank by not spoiling something that was old news,MarleysGh0st wrote:All clear!Bob Juch wrote:Until I can watch it on my TiVo.fantine33 wrote:How long do we have to spoil stuff since it already aired yesterday? To avoid, the Wrath of Marley, I'll play along until given the all clear.
Unless you fear the Wrath of Juch!
Spoiler
Bruce Willis is already DEAD!
I have no Tivo or DVR. Therefore, somebody else paying to procrastinate does not constitute a pressing need for me to bother with unnecessary html code. But I'll adapt the 3 second rule to 24 hours. Not that the Wrath of Juch scares me any more than the Wrath of Marley.
Not that I post about anything requiring spoilers hardly ever.

I never really watched the old version (and I have GSN) so I can only speak of the new version.
I liked it (though like Pyramid, I don't think I would be a good contestant). The only change I would make would be on the round where they go for the $1 Million, I would give the contestant a certain number of wrong/passes to use for the entire tree. So for example if you can wrong/passes up to 10 times and you have 4 wrongs/passes left and are going for the $1Million, then some people might go for it.
Otherwise this show is gonna end up like Power of Ten, with an ultimate prize that no one is going to ever dare go for.

I liked it. Regis was in his element.
The show went FAST. I tried to play along, but it was kinda hard to keep up with the action on TV. I've seen the old version on GSN-at least that one was slower and you could play along. I heard that Betty White is going to be on this new edition. I wonder how she'll do with the speed.
Do the contestants get to pick their celebrities or are they stuck with whoever shows up? I'd like to play with either Robin Williams (he'd be funny) or Michael J. Fox (he's about my size-I wouldn't need a stool!)
Overall, I give this a B plus.

I'm just a game show nerd.
