So I got a bunch of pictures sent to me claiming to be from Katrina.
When I looked at them I thought, doesn't look like a hurricane, looks like a tornado. Snopes confirms they are from a storm chaser and not a hurricane.
So is the person who started this stoopid? Or do they think deceiving people is funny? I mean it is weather clouds for crying out loud.
I still can't figure out why any one starts these things.

Why? For one or both of the two reasons you mention.christie1111 wrote: So is the person who started this stoopid? Or do they think deceiving people is funny? ...

There have always been gossips. The internet gives them more power than ever.

I got one forwarded to me the other day...urgent lost teen....find Evan Trembley. Supposedly from Dothan, AL. It just didn't seem right. My email said he's been missing for two weeks.
So I googled the name and found out it's a hoax. There apparently is a real Evan Trembley from Wichita Falls, TX who started the rumor himself. The website I found said it had been updated 8/07, so this has been going on for a while. It's pathetic!

I first received that email a few years ago and immediately checked Ssnopes and told everyone that it was a hoax.kayrharris wrote:I got one forwarded to me the other day...urgent lost teen....find Evan Trembley. You will notice though that when I got the cheap Elf makeup note, I forwarded it to everying I know, including people on the bored.
I think that people are just gullable about different things.
