American Airlines
Jeff was scheduled to go to Washington DC today and I dropped him off at the airport.
While ordering a cake at Sam's Club, I got a phone call from him telling me that his flight was cancelled and asking me to go home and make new reservations.
The airline made no attempt to contact him or anything.
Great customer service.

Was it cancelled when he was at the airport; within half an hour of the flight? If so they wouldn't call anyone.

It would be interesting to see why the flight was cancelled.
I was on a Continental flight a while back and we were delayed because they needed to add weight to the cargo hold (not enough people checked luggage). I wonder how that will affect American.

Always keep the airline's number in your cell phone...rebooking tends to be easier over the phone when there are lots of people trying to rebook their flights.
I hate the airlines for always using weather as an excuse...but sometimes there is bad weather. I speak from experience after spending 8 hours at O'Hare airport and missing a baseball game in WA that was the main purpose of my whole trip. But what can you do, I'm also glad I wasn't on a plane that got struck down during a lightning storm.

It was probably easy for me to redo his flight. It seems to be weather quite often.
Not that I'm looking to defend American Airlines or anything, but I can personally vouch for the weather in Dallas yesterday afternoon, as I had to drive to work (I work afternoons these days) in a deluge.
I would have gotten to work faster if I had brought oars and rowed.
