Re: Question
It hasn't been publicly discussed, but "we" think that it's go great to "see" so many people who haven't been around lately, that "they" should be forced to post at least once a week, so "we" know "they" still have fond memories of this place.Corn wrote:Are accounts here likely to be auto-deleted for extended inactivity? Besides, think of who started this incarnation of our bored. Even if it were set to auto-delete, he'd find a way to stop your account from being erased

Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!
That'll be $10, please.

Re: Question
As far as I know, accounts are valid forever. Why do you ask? Is this a concern, or are you suggesting that it would be a good thing to do?Corn wrote:Are accounts here likely to be auto-deleted for extended inactivity? Or will they stay alive even if we don't use them?

I would never do that. Well, hardly ever. Oh, all right. For you, Pea, I'd make an exception.peacock2121 wrote:Depends on how moderator happy Bob##s gets. He might be a little quick on the draw. I don't think any of them would do that, on purpose, without first getting opinions.

Actually, "mere" moderators don't have the power to delete accounts. And as I've demonstrated (being new to the "moderator" business), I'm capable of learning and adjusting to what works for the community. --Bob

I was hoping for a 'no, no autodeletions.' My old go.com email account bit the dust due to inactivity (not that I checked it all that often when it was functional), my old excite acccount died due to the excite PTB not seeing any reason to keep my inbox from being flooded by spam, AND I moved and changed my phone number last year, so I know I was a bit hard to find when I wasn't checking in on a regular basis. Right now I am set up to get email notifications for PMs here (at the account that works) so as long as this account is still in existence, it'll be a much better breadcrumb trail than the old go addy was, and people shouldn't have to go to the other online locales I frequent to hunt me down if I am not around for awhile. Plus my AIM (which I rarely use but am trying to leave open more often) and YIM (which I use frequently) addresses are in my profile.TheConfessor wrote:As far as I know, accounts are valid forever. I took a look at the Bored setup page, and I didn't even see an option for autodeletion of inactive accounts. I'm very very sure it will not happen, and it will certainly not be done manually.
As for Go mail, I think about a year or two ago, Go.com decided they didn't want to bother much with Go mail anymore, so they decided to accept no new Go mail accounts. Go mail accounts always expired if you were not logged in during the last 90 days, and had to be "reregistered". And since you can not do that anymore (since you have to go through the same startup procedure as if you were beginning a new account), only those who have maintained their Go mail accounts the last few years still have them (I still have mine for lb13 and Craig Paquette active)...

Re: Question
I'll throw in my 2 cents and say that there will absolutely not be any account deletions due to inactivity. lb13's statements were correct....there is no setting for auto-deletions here. The ability to delete an account is limited to manual, deliberate actions that can only be performed by three people...eyegor, lb13 and myself. Typically, only accounts used for spamming the Bored would be subject to deletion.Corn wrote:Are accounts here likely to be auto-deleted for extended inactivity? The only other circumstance I can think of that would warrant an account deletion would be if an account was used to do something illegal, especially something that I (as the site owner) could be held liable for. I seriously doubt that anything like that will ever happen, but it still has to be mentioned. Perhaps I should post a legal disclaimer somewhere on here.
Quiet you.Rexer25 wrote:Besides, think of who started this incarnation of our bored. Even if it were set to auto-delete, he'd find a way to stop your account from being erased

Evidently forum moderators can only deal with messages and stuff within the forum. There's a note on the BB Transcript forum about the ability of those using the BBTranscriptTeam login to move threads to other forums, but not move them out. I don't think forum moderators have any ability to remove or change users' information. Bored moderators, OTOH, have full rights.peacock2121 wrote:If only tubadave and eyegor and lb can do this, what is the distinction between moderators?

I think so. At least that's what I thought the distinction was.peacock2121 wrote:So....
eyegor, tubadave and lb are Bored Moderators and have power in all forums, even if their name doesn't appear there.
All others listed as moderators are moderators only in the forum underwhich their name appears.
Do I have that right?
