Ricky Jay and His 52 Assistants

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Sun May 25, 2008 2:55 am

Has anyone seen this show? I'm relatively interested and I have the opportunity to buy what should be reasonably good tickets if i act relatively soon, but I need to figure out whether it's worth trying to squeeze them into our budget. Thanks in advance. --Bob

I saw him in Las Vegas many years ago when he was just starting out. It was the best card magic I've ever seen! He could only have gotten better.

Haven't seen it, but Ricky in a bit part is generally a good enough reason to see a movie.

I had never heard of Ricky Jay until I was sitting in the Hot Seat at BAM Play It in Orlando a couple of years ago when they asked what the 52 assistants were. Despite never hearing of him, I deduced that it couldn't be Senators, Fruit, or something else, and settled on playing cards. It was either for 8K or 16K.

I hadn't heard of him since, until your post.

Jay is fortunate to be one of David Mamet's troupe of stock players.

He is a natural at playing a con artist, which makes his magic show a lot of fun to watch.

He has also spent a lot of time debunking fake psychics.
