I came so close to answering, "She's working on an opera, so perhaps she was composing more music." I stopped myself in the nick of time, because that response would have required a long explanation.

I can just hear the staff: "Annie's doing great. Her mom....not..so..much..." as they tap the side of their heads...

Try to avoid lampposts enroute the your J taping, okay?

I think you will be absolutely fabu!

Not that you aren't already, I meant on the show.

I want to clarify that.

I haven't yet recreated the whole test to be able to score myself with any accuracy. The worst moment was when I had a Brain Blackout on the name of an author whose name I should know as well as my own. I've read his books, literary criticism, biographical information, etc. The block remained in place throughout the test and, in fact, until the drive back as I approached the Texas border. I'm sure I was the only person in the room to miss that question, although I had a couple of lucky WAGs on others.
I hate that! I had one that was bugging the crap out of me. Then on the car ride home my mom and I were talking about something and all of a sudden I scream out "avant garde!" She thought I was having a spell of some sort. Ha! Pissed me off even more once the answer came to me. Duh! I would have much rather had it be something esoteric or requiring some reasonable amount of effort. But avant garde? I think the question even spotted me the A.

Was some cat named Glenn there? He looks in his 30's but then he started going on about games show he worked on BITD that should make him about Bob Barker age. I really wanted to ask him how old he was and where his portrait was stashed, but it didn't seem very politic.

This was very funny and I had to read in context to figure out what you were on about. Around here bridge people are the donies that sleep under the Cimarron bridge.

I was trying to figure out what the homeless were doing at the Jeopardy audition and why they were being so erudite and affable. Ha!

If you mean the Glenn who works on the Jeopardy staff, no. In addition to Maggie and Tony, we had a young Charlie to run the computer questions and a cute Laurie, who was described as Maggie's assistant. Laurie, it was reported, was the magnificent person who brilliantly selected our names at random for the audition invitation.

I think I enjoyed reading your post more than any I have here in quite a while. I really hope you get to have even more fun with the J people in the future.

Ooh, ooh, did I make the list? Did you get the impression that knowing lots of past contestants was a good thing or a bad thing? I suspect it's a good thing, though the opposite is probably true of WWTBAM.

Good luck! At least you've thrown your hat into the ring. You can't win if you don't play.

My vice principal had an absolute blast at the audition. He was very nervous in the days leading up to the big day, but thoroughly enjoyed himself once he got started on the progress. He, too, was kicking himself for a couple of "D-oh!" answers, but also realized he had gotten one or two that others seated around him had not, so maybe it all evened out.

SC - he figured out who you were ("From Norman? Lots of dogs? I realized who she was, but got so caught up in the process that I didn't make actual contact.").

I've loaned him my copy of Bob Harris's J! book, and he's laughing his way through it. I have visions of him rearranging his living room to mimic Bob's practice technique.

Here's hoping for lots of phone calls to Oklahoma folks!

Yeah, that's the guy. Maybe he and Maggie fill the same spot so it's one or the other? He was with Tony, Karina (maybe) and some young guy working the computer whose name I can't remember because 1. it was a year ago and 2. I wasn't paying much attention.

Had to put that last part in just for Marley. Ha!

Once Suzanne retired I think Glenn and Maggie share co-head contestant duties. I could be wrong about this.

Sounds like you did well Judy! My J! audition is TOMORROW MORNING (Sunday of Memorial Day weekend) at 11:30 in NYC.
I've been tearing my house apart looking for Mike DuPuy's "How to get on..etc." and cannot find it anywhere.
I did read Bob Harris's book (I'm still laughing), and I found Ken Jenning's "Brainiac" at my library. I'm about halfway through that one, and I plan on putting it under my pillow tonight, hoping for some upward seepage.
I've been mulling my five "interesting" stories and think I decided what to use. I'm hoping these PA's are more discerning than the Syndie BAM people!
Hopefully we'll both get a call from Alex & Co.

From that happily-held buzzer to TPTB's ears! It will happen.
Well, then

Good luck, Tom! I know you'll have fun. Maggie will be there to run the show. (Perhaps the entire same four-person crew will be in NYC, but she mentioned it specifically.) Please come back tomorrow and tell us how everything went.

LOL! If it works, let us know.

Good luck!
