An introduction....

#1 Post by marrymeflyfree » Thu May 22, 2008 5:44 pm

I can't believe gsn already spilled the beans! Where is the tongue-sticking-out thingy?

As you already know, we have a Nina! The short and sweet: born at 1:30am on May 20th, 7lb 13oz and 22in long.

The back story: I was 8 days overdue and discovered that I had a teeny amniotic fluid leak. We weren't at all certain how long it had been there, and there was some infection risk, so it was time to get something going! The kiddo looked strong and I wanted to avoid a hospital birth and medical induction, so I chose to stay at the birth center and give the castor oil a go. Fortunately for Nina and I, it worked beautifully.

Well, perhaps "beautifully" isn't the right word. We'll just say it got the job done! We had the castor oil smoothie at noon....labor started by 7:30, and she was born 6 hours later. Totally unenecumbered and unmedicated and un-BS'ed with, we couldn't have had a better experience. There's just no way we'd have had the care and environment that we did if we'd been in a hospital. We were home about 12 hours later and have just been staring at each other ever since.

She is great! Gorgeous and alert and content and (currently) gassy. Dad is fantastic and in love! I feel great! Exhilerated, even. Life is good. WOO HOO! Rock on! :D

(btw....I saw the other thread - thanks for all of the congrats and well-wishes, and yes that is her actual last name.) 8)

What do you mean you can't believe it? It might take something as momentous as new baby news to get gsn to post again, but you don't think he'd keep that secret, do you? :)

She is gorgeous. I am so happy for you and her dad. (Her, too, because she's got you two for parents!)

Gorgeous. Nice round face, not that usually squashed newborn look.

Enjoy these times...

Well, the vote so far is that Nina is beautiful, by a 6 - 0 margin. I'll have to take everyone's word on that. I'm not seeing any photos, either with Firefox or IE browsers. I just see two little white boxes with a red dot or an x in them. I'll use my imagination. I'm guessing she's a blonde.

Did you try right clicking on that red "x"? It should give you a choice of "show image" and if you choose that, the photo should show up.

Worth a try anyway, if you haven't already.

One of the sweetest, nicest women I ever knew was named Nina, so I have the softest spot for that name.

She's absolutely beautiful.

Okay, I see the photos now. Daughter and father are indeed cute. Lovlie, even.

My technical issue seems to be whether I'm using the wireless signal from my router or using the wired ethernet connection. I'm not sure why it would make a difference, but it's consistent. Using the wireless signal doesn't give me the photos. Using a hardwired connection does.
