I just received an e-mail from the woman who ran the therapy dog program in which Tigger was involved. Although the e-mail was about a new training session for which none of my current dogs would be eligible, she mentioned for the sake of out-of-towners that a local motel was "dog-friendly." This fact is not mentioned on the motel's web site.

I am happy to have this information, just in case I ever run across a boa constrictor in the bathroom or a copperhead in the hall. On my last Snake Night, I believed that the girls and I had nowhere else to go.

I don't know the answer to that, but as I recall, Motel 6 is one chain that does advertise its willingness to accept pets. I know people, including KT, who have made travel plans based upon the availability of a Motel 6 in towns and cities across the country. Alas, the last Motel 6 within 15 miles of my house was leveled by a tornado a few years back.

I know people, including KT, who have made travel plans based upon the availability of a Motel 6 in towns and cities across the country. Alas, the last Motel 6 within 15 miles of my house was leveled by a tornado a few years back.

I believe most Super 8s are cat friendly as well. I preferred them to Motel 6 myself.

I stayed at some chain mighta been Best Western, mighta been Comfort Inn) when I went to The Hartford and watched Baby Boy play. They allowed pets. The people next door had a dog. It barked, a lot, a real lot, like all night a lot. I did not want to complain. I finally did.

I don't want to do that again.

Next time, take some speakers, hook them up to your stereo, grab a Barry White CD, turn up the bass and put the speakers outside. According to a reliable source*, the snake(s) will be drawn to the throbbing rhythm of the bass.
