It seems fairly certain that the topic of President Trump's primetime speech tomorrow will be election integrity.

There are lots of rumors going around about what the specifics will be. As one of the many people who KNOW FOR A FACT * that responsible officials in my county and my state routinely and frequently ignore and break black letter laws pertaining to elections, and that the judicial branch in my state is much too cowardly (and is probably complicit) to even address the evidence of these crimes, I will be very interested in what the President will address.

I will be interested, but what is needed is action and accountability. I will hope and pray that the federal government has finally compiled the unvarnished truth about the completely vulnerable election systems and incredibly corrupted voter rolls that exist in my state and many others, and will present it in a way that leaves no room for doubt, even by people as brain insulated as SSS. And if they have, I hope and pray that some of these criminals, notably people like Brad Raffensperger, et al, will be criminally prosecuted.

That is all I can do. Hope and pray. After seeing first hand what mental contortions some of these people engage in to dismiss hard and fast evidence, I am skeptical anything concrete will happen. After all, people like SSS somehow believe male human beings can give birth to babies. Maybe I'm wrong about that, SSS, but you certainly go out of your way to elect unhinged people who do believe that.

Last week I learned that a serious software error in New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle System led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated that they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, almost three years prior to my taking office. These individuals answered “no” when asked on a keypad whether they were a U.S. citizen when applying for drivers’ licenses and identification cards, but through no fault of their own, the system registered them anyway.

This happened under the previous administration and, upon learning this information, I immediately ordered my chief counsel to launch an investigation to get to the bottom of what occurred. I also ordered the removal of any residents from our voter rolls who were erroneously added between June 2023 and June 2024. The new MVC Administrator that I appointed has begun the process of replacing the vendor responsible for administering the system.

Our preliminary analysis shows fewer than 400 individuals who were newly registered for the first time because of the error voted. They were registered as Democrats, Republicans and Unaffiliated voters and were scattered across the state.

I am appalled by the reckless failures that allowed this to happen and the lack of transparency shown by those in charge at the time. This failure didn’t occur under my watch, but accountability starts now. I am taking action to prevent anything like it from occurring in the future and make sure those responsible are held accountable.

This appalling incident is a bit off-topic since it happened in 2023. It shows how a minor glitch can have huge consequences.

A lot of questions demand answers. How many ballots were cast by ineligible voters? Did they realize they shouldn’t be voting? Did some of them become citizens before they voted?

The officials who covered this up for two years should be prosecuted, not the voters unless they knew better.

Oh, this kinda stuff never happens. Except for when it does. And when it does, it's always because of understandable human error. But don't worry. Mikie's on the job now. It won't happen no more. We don't need no SAVE act. We don't need to have no stinkin' voter ID.

I personally showed my Election Board 126 genuine, unquestionable illegal registrations in 2024. They weren't interested. About 100 of them are still there. But no problem. Many people just like me have gone through the same process, only to be ignored, because the boards are under the thumb of crooks like Raffensperger and have been told by Marc Elias they will be sued if they take any actions on challenged registrations. In my state, election laws exist to be ignored and broken at will.

But I know. The people that really need to hear this stuff have turned off the rational part of their brains.

There were over four million votes cast in the 2024 New Jersey presidential election. The ineligible voters amounted to less than .01% of that total. Similarly, there were over 3.3 million votes cast in the 2025 New Jersey governor's election.

Mistakes do happen, but the SAVE Act is not the answer. It's like taking a bulldozer when a fly swatter is needed. The SAVE Act would make it much more difficult for people who have changed their names, including married women (and married men who change their names) to vote. The answer is what happened in New Jersey, Continuing reviews and audits of registrations and other records, which happens routinely and without publicity. And note that the Democratic governor of a blue state revealed the problem at a time when it was most politically disadvantageous to do so, not Flock's army of snoops or Fox News or any other right wingers digging for election irregularities.

But let's look at the real reasons for Trump's speech. First, it sets the stage for him to try to pull some sort of stunt like seizing ballots and sending in federal troops if he doesn't like the results of the midterm elections. (They just did the same thing in Nicaragua. The dictator there canceled upcoming elections.) Second, it's another effort, along with the quest for Communists in the Democratic party, to deflect voter attention from the real issues that Republicans don't want to discuss, like the Iran War, affordability, ICE excesses, and now, a new set of tariffs against Canada that will only make things more expensive for Americans to purchase. (I'm not sure how these tariffs are legal when the Supreme Court threw out the last bunch of Trump tariffs.)

I never said there weren't undocumented immigrants on the voter rolls. And convicted felons. And people who died. And people who move. And there are cases of voter fraud. But not very many. And not many enough to justify the draconian measures that are in the SAVE Act, which would make it much more difficult for a lot of people to vote.

I live around a bunch of migrants, and I'm guessing some of them aren't documented. I don't make it my business to go around asking my neighbors for their credentials. What I do know is that most of them are most interested in keeping a low profile and not attracting attention to themselves, which they would get by showing up to vote. They're not going to risk a trip to an ICE detention center just to get Jon Ossoff one more vote.

I don't know what your spreadsheets tell you. I do know that all the "evidence" you and your buddies have presented in various courts and other hearings hasn't impressed a single one of them, and that includes Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger.

Most Westernized countries have voting laws that try to make it as easy as possible for people to vote so that the largest possible number of eligible voters can participate in elections. Republicans want to make it as difficult as possible, allegedly to crack down on what proves to be, election after election, a handful of voting fraud cases. You should be asking yourself why your party doesn't want people to vote.

Here's something people might find interesting. The Heritage Foundation, a Washington right-wing think tank, has a listing of proven cases of election fraud, state by state. These cases go back to 1982 (not all states have data going back that far). The most total proven cases in any state over that period of time is 138. Here in Georgia, there have been 36 proven cases of voter fraud going back to 1997. And usually they're people who vote in the name of a dead relative or something like that. That's a little over one case per year in all the elections held during that time. And that's what we supposedly need to crack down on.

I didn't say that there was no liberal bias - or conservative bias - in the media. Nor am I saying that what she wrote isn't true. I merely pointed out that Ms. Winters has a perspective that informs her writing, and that is something important to know.
