Lyrically Speaking 10-27-25

#1 Post by elwoodblues » Sun Oct 26, 2025 7:57 pm

We begin Week 3, and today each song has the name of a small town (2020 Census population under 60,000) in the title. A few of them are well-known tourist towns, but they still qualify.

I was not originally going to do this, but all of you come up with such good images that I am going to put a 5-point Image Bonus on this one and on some of the other remaining games.

1. You can't stop us on the road to freedom
You can't stop us 'cause our eyes can see
Men with insight, men in granite
Knights in armor intent on chivalry

2. Well I got a job and tried to put my money away
But I got debts that no honest man can pay
So I drew what I had from the Central Trust
And I bought us two tickets on that Coast City bus

3. Just let me know if you wanna go
To that home out on the range

4. I'll have a burger and a root beer
You feed the heap some multi-grade
A shot of premium to boot, dear
We'll get across the Golden Gate

5. Well the preacher and the teacher
Lord, they're a caution
They are the talk of the town
When the gossip gets to flyin' and they ain't lyin'
When the sun goes underground

6. I'm goin' to the country
Baby, do you want to go?
'Cause if you can't make it, baby
Your sister Lucille said she wanna go
And I sure will take her

7. A church house, gin house
A school house, outhouse
On Highway Number Nineteen
The people keep the city clean

8. I still hear your sea winds blowin'
I still see her dark eyes glowin'
She was 21 when I left…

Bonus: Which of the towns in this game had the largest population in 2020?

Image Bonus: Show me a small-town image.
