Lyrically Speaking 10-22-25

#1 Post by elwoodblues » Tue Oct 21, 2025 8:52 pm

Last Word Wednesday. The last word of each title will be the same.

1. Oh, will you walk with me out on the wire?
'Cause, baby, I'm just a scared and lonely rider
But I gotta know how it feels
I want to know if love is wild
Babe, I want to know if love is real

2. If I ever get out of here
Thought of giving it all away
To a registered charity
All I need is a pint a day

3. I don't wanna know your name
'Cause you don't look the same
The way you did before

4. Winding and swirling and dancing along
We passed by the old willow tree
Where lovers caress as we sing them our song,
Rejoicing together when we greet the sea

5. People talkin' about us
They got nothin' else to do
When it all comes down
We will still come through

6. You're thinking up your white lies
You're putting on your bedroom eyes
You say you're coming home, but you won't say when

7. Billy Mack is a detective down in Texas
You know he knows just exactly what the facts is
He ain't gonna let those two escape justice
He makes his livin' off of the people's taxes

8. You'd better ride on baby,
You was born outside of the law

Run Run Run - Jo Jo Gunne

No one got this one. (TBone probably would have nailed it :( ) Mostly instrumental with only a few words, this 1972 song was one I liked back then but don't get to hear much today. If you haven't heard it, here it is:

kroxquo got a point for noticing what I noticed about Take the Money and Run. They rhyme "Texas" and "facts is" and they stretch "to El Paso" to "to-oo old El Paso" and then rhyme it with "hassle."

LB got a point for giving us the clap.

Vandal got a point for Run, Forrest, Run.

Darn! Missed this version. I had my initial answers written out and ready, but there was one, maybe two songs i wanted to let sit for a bit. My computer locked up when i was at lunch and I ended up having to reboot and lost the work (I do my responsed in Notepad before posting). Since the Notepad document wasn't there I forgot/assumed I had posted.

Oh well.

Self score is 8.

I got both song and artist on :
Born to run
Band on the run
The Long Run
Take it on the run (I don't believe I had this one, it was the one I wanted to think about)
Take the money and run
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
~~ Thomas Jefferson

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.
