Fire up the toaster!
Colorado has lost 93 games this season so they cannot win more than 69 games. San Diego has won 74 games so Colorado cannot win the National League Western Division. The Dodgers have won 73 games so the Rockies will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Western Division. Milwaukee and Chicago each have won at least 74 games so Colorado will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Central Division.
Philadelphia has won 75 games. The Mets have won 69 games, the Reds have won 67 games, and they have three games remaining against each other, so at least one of those two teams will win at least 70 games. Therefore, the Rockies will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Eastern Division or behind a second non-division winner in the National League Central Division.
Football season has arrived in Denver just in time. Colorado has been toastifed. --Bob

Washington has lost 87 games so the Nationals cannot win more than 75 games. Philadelphia has won 90 games so Washington cannot win the National League Eastern Division. The Dodgers and Padres each have one at least 80 games so the Nationals will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Western Division. Milwaukee and the Cubs each have won at least 84 games so Washington will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Central Division. There won't be baseball in Washington much longer to keep the National Guard entertained. The Nationals have been toastified. --Bob
P.S. I've seen the stories claiming that the Brewers have clinched a post-season berth. They're wrong. Milwaukee still can finish in a tie with the Giants for the third wild card spot, and the Giants were 5-2 against the Brewers this season so in that scenario they would win the tiebreak.

Make that one career series. In three games, he had one hit in 15 PAs in 2014.

Re: Fire up the toaster!
Ah. I didn't think they had because they still can finish behind the Yankees and Boston, and tied with Cleveland and Houston, both of which own the tiebreak against Toronto. But Cleveland has 3 remaining games against Detroit, so if Toronto finishes tied with Cleveland, they will necessarily finish ahead of Detroit, which would make Cleveland the division champion with Toronto and Houston tied for the final two wild card spots and Detroit on the outside looking in. --Bobelwoodblues wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 1:01 pmWith only six games left in the season, Toronto is the only American League team that has clinched a playoff spot.

Congratulations to the New York Yankees, who have clinched a postseason berth.
Detroit and Cleveland each have lost 72 games and Boston has lost 71 games for a total of 215 losses. Detroit finishes the season with two more games against Cleveland and three games against Boston, so those three teams will have to finish with at least 220 losses among them, which means at least one of them will finish with at least 74 losses. That will put them behind the Yankees, who can finish no worse than 89-73. --Bob
