Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot on Wednesday at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, Fox News reported, citing a spokesperson for the influential ally of U.S. President Donald Trump.
"Charlie Kirk has been shot at Utah Valley University. Condition unknown," the spokesperson told Fox, which reported that Kirk had been taken to a hospital.

Video of the incident circulating on social media showed Kirk addressing a large outdoor crowd when a loud crack that sounded like a gunshot rang out. Kirk can be seen briefly moving his hand to his neck as he falls off his chair, sending the attendees running.

I admire Kirk’s devotion to religious morality as the foundation of our society. Any law, no matter how well crafted, can be corrupted if officials disregard the ethics behind it. (Just yesterday, I happened to be thinking that our honest justice system is based not on any amendment, but on the 9th commandment.)

I’m disturbed, though, by Kirk’s reliance on Christian values. While the Founders were overwhelmingly Protestant and relied on the Bible, most religions have similar principles. Even today, judicial candidates who happen to be Muslim are asked if they will base their rulings on Shariah. Jewish college students have to avow that our love of Israel as the Biblical Holy Land doesn’t imply support for Bibi’s atrocities. Since our country was founded, religious liberty, for all faiths, has been as fundamental as any of the morals that Kirk venerates.

This event is sad and tragic, but it brings forward and exposes certain things.

This guy, Matthew Dowd, was a commentator for MSNBC. He was eventually fired yesterday for these remarks he made in reference to the Kirk assassination.

He knew absolutely nothing about Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk never spoke a hateful word in his life. He was all about speaking to young people and debating them with reason and logic. He would speak to anyone, anywhere, any time on any subject. That's what he did. The hate ALL came from people like Dowd.

Dowd is not an isolated incident. It is all over the democrat party and the legacy media. They are not even trying to hide it anymore. And the hatred people like Dowd have is not limited to Charlie Kirk. Some call it TDS, but it is more than that. For many people in our society, politics has become their religion. We have some of it here on the bored. The most virulent example is Weyoun, who frequently resorts to anger and linguistic violence when he gets frustrated.

I have my opinions, and they are strongly held. But I will try to emulate Charlie Kirk's example from now on, and not resort to name-calling and vitriol. But I will not stand for hypocrisy, and I will stand for what is right and not back down to the utter nonsense and intimidation spouted by the left.

There are people cataloging and publishing posts from 'BlueSky' making or suggesting the next 'targets' after Kirk. I showed the unfiltered reaction of Matthew Dowd on MSLSD. How many others with his disgusting mindset did not have the benefit of being on live TV? No, your side does not seem to be under control.

You refuse to debate and resort to the above once your initial argument is refuted. What Charlie Kirk was good at was listening and talking to people who didn't agree with him and getting them to reason with him if they were capable of doing so. Name one person who can do that who represents the democrat party or the left, Bob....

Political violence is completely unacceptable. But this is not someone whose life should be celebrated or held up as an example of anything. He's no martyr. I certainly won't say that he got what he deserved -- no one deserves what happened to him, and again, political violence is completely unacceptable. But I will say he directly contributed to the atmosphere where it was more likely.
