Does the first word of the Tangredi song need to be the first of the source song?
No, I did not use that level of precision, and would have lost a handful of matches if I had...

Just the basics... no word/word grouping needed as building blocks should appear in a listed song more than once. And extremely common words used alone will never be used for a match...

lb13
Just bringing this forward since that rabbit hole is already being leaped down...

Another tip: While the songs being made weren't all Top 40 hits, they are songs that are known enough to be associated with that artist. I didn't have to dig any of them out of obscurity for the game...

Donʻt you mean that no word/word grouping in a listed song should be used as a building block more than once? I would suppose that the second MINUTE in #39 could be used in another match.

Nope, in fact, there are identical building blocks that will be used more than once...

The rule as I stated it is to prevent matches that would be valid in alternate form. For example, the word LOVE alone appears in six songs, and would be "valid" with any of them as a match. The intended matches are tight, and can only be made one way... and that is standard Tangredi practice.

What you are stating is sometimes enforced in Frank's games (usually in games where no part of the same song title can be used more than once), however I chose to allow identical building blocks to be used more than once SO LONG AS they only appear once in the list...

Can a word be used if it appears twice in just one song, like SUGAR in 19. SUGAR SUGAR?

Yes. There just can't be an alternate song in the list the match could be replaced with.

That’s a relief since AFAIK Archie, Jughead etc. didn’t have any solo hits.

So, this should delight anybody that's seen The Usual Suspects (I know at least krox has). Remember at the end when Chazz Palminteri starts looking at all of the things on his bulletin board, then his posters, then his coffee cup and suddenly puts it all together and realizes that *(spoiler alert!) Verbal is actually Keyser Soze?

Well, Save Tonight from my birthday buddy has been going through my head for the last couple days and then, as I was putting on some Shalimar (perfume, for all you Philistines), my nephew calls me. I have separate ringtones for the fam and people who call me a lot so I know who it is and his is Crazy Train. I was also watching some clips of the Alice/My Chem show last night in Philly...

Eureka! Putting it together with what I was talking about with Ozzy and Rod and Bowie and Mick....

Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Queen) and Morning Train = Crazy Train (Sabbath's

? and Save Tonight = Tonight's the Night (Faces)?

Dancing in the Sheets (Shalamar) and Streets of Philadelphia (last night's concert) = Dancing in the Streets (Bowie and Stones)

So, do I have it right? Song listed plus another song from artist listed = song by solo artist from group listed?

Or is it not so strict and Blaze of Glory/Glory Days works out somehow?

And I'm not sure that No More Mr. Nice Guy would go with Wouldn't It Be Nice because it's the same word but last night show tied into that, as well!

Second, there is one pearl of wisdom in Earl's second post that is definitely relevant to the Tangredi...

lb13
Like Pappy always said, throw enough shit against the wall and some of it's bound to stick....

I see Vandal got there first, but I'd like to get partial credit and an Ah Halped!! out of it because for someone who actually coined the term I don't think I've ever solved one by myself.

You do get credit for being the only one to pick up on The Faces, as that was one of the two issues I kept harping about early on (the other was Morning Train, which was its North American release title along with the won't be mentioned parenthetical).... and the fact that everyone assumes that "Stay With Me" was a Rod song because he was ten times bigger than Faces ever was... and noting the distinction was a big clue as to the Tangredi.

I did enjoy the way the solution came together, though. Vandal finally took the step I was waiting patiently for of someone realizing the song titles make other song titles (a common trait of these games). Jarnon then came along and realized the artists were important, though I'm not 100% positive if he picked up the theme since he kept the Stones song. Then melly picked it up and ran with it....

If I were an MLB player being interviewed about this game:
It was a total team effort and I'm just glad we got the W.

76. MAD + 12. ABOUT YOU by Belinda Carlisle of 102. THE GO-GO’s

21. EBONY + 90. EYES by Bob Welch of 51. FLEETWOOD MAC

Where, oh where are Cream's Eric Clapton and The Faces' Rod Stewart hiding?

Rod's definitely there, but on checking, my Clapton song is missing a few words I didn't count on (and a tricky spelling to boot!)... and no such luck with them being in the game this time. (EDIT: It's actually missing just the first word if I can turn a triple into another quadruple)

Most of the title is there... so I'll let it go for now. I wish I'd have thought to check the made songs as well as I did the listed songs....

Maybe we can use Clapton's Bad Love instead. Not what I was looking for (or I suspect you either) but it might work.

I'll continue to look for Rod

Yep, that's the one. I assumed the first three words weren't part of the title (Always looks that stuff up, dumbass!!!!)....

Also, Ebony Eyes is fine! Duplicate building blocks will be plentiful...

Updated consolidation…

Identify the 111 songs below and match them up into 43 triples, 6 quadruples and 1 quintuple according to a Tangredi, or a principle you must discover for yourself! If my accounting is correct, 28 songs will be used twice, 4 songs three times, one song four times, and two songs five times! All multiple-matched songs may be used in any combination of capacities. Parenthetical song titles should be able to be ignored. Alternate matches are possible, but using best practices in Tangredi game matching should eliminate most of those. I did several checks to make sure the true matches in this game were as tight as possible...

Good luck!

*1. PENNY LANE - THE BEATLES
*2. HOME SWEET HOME - MOTLEY CRUE
*3. TRUCKIN’ - THE GRATEFUL DEAD
4. MR. TELEPHONE MAN - NEW EDITION
5. YOU’RE THE BEST - JOE ESPOSITO

18. JEALOUS AGAIN - THE BLACK CROWES
*19. SUGAR SUGAR - THE ARCHIES
*20. ABC - THE JACKSONS
*21. EBONY AND IVORY - PAUL McCARTNEY & STEVIE WONDER
