Seeing the heartbreaking pictures of those little girls on social media is tearing me apart. One report I read said there were over 700 kids in that camp -- most of them got to higher ground and are presumably alive. It's the start of our monsoon season. We've already had two water rescues. There are several deaths every year. We've always experienced flash floods, but not on the same scale as Kerrville. 
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

There are many creeks that run through Atlanta before flowing into the Chattahoochee River. One of them is right down the hill from our unit, less than 500 feet away. When we have storms, such as the recent hurricane that largely missed us, we get flooding. But our flooding is knee-deep water, undriveable streets, and flooded basements. Annoying and possibly dangerous, especially if there are downed trees or power lines, but nothing like what I've seen in Texas. That's horrible and tragic. My sympathies go out to all those affected.

Boonie's nephew and his ex-wife are in San Angelo. Their daughters are in Austin and sending us reports of their situation.
A couple of summers, the girls went to a camp next to Camp Mystic and they would walk over there for combined events.
All the news is just heartbreaking. The folks of the Hill Country - and all Texans - are in our prayers.
