100 Years Ago Today, June 2, 1925: New York Yankees first baseman Wally Pipp asks to be taken out of the lineup. Lou Gehrig replaces him...and doesn't miss a game for the next 14 years!

Also, 84 years ago today, Gehrig died from amytrophic lateral sclerosis, now more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. --Bob
