Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas loses legal challenge in CAS ruling
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed a challenge from transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, who had asked the Swiss-based court to reject a policy that would prevent her from competing in women's races at elite competitions.

In its ruling, which was published Wednesday, the panel of arbitrators determined that Thomas did not have standing to challenge the policy created by swimming's international federation, World Aquatics. The CAS panel found that "for the time being" she is not eligible to compete in elite competitions through World Aquatics or USA Swimming, so the policy does not apply to her.

"She is currently only entitled to compete in USA Swimming events that do not qualify as 'Elite Events,'" according to the arbitral award.

Unfortunately, the rule still stands, they just didn't give HIM the standing to challenge it.

If people like Lia (William) Thomas feel they need to compete, give them their own category, but keep them out of women's sports (and locker rooms). This guy and others like him are a complete disgrace.

This will please Flock. The Trump administration is withholding $175 million from Penn because Lia Thomas was on their women’s swimming team.

Pretty obvious that he hasn't had the requisite surgery. Pretty full package there.

Thank God we’ve cut off cancer research at Penn because Lia didn’t cut off a penis.

We don’t need to be wasting money on medical research at an institution that doesn’t understand basic biology. Nothing useful will come of it.

There's something very wrong here if you think research money is "wasted" if it doesn't result in the complete eradication of a disease. I'm a survivor of three types of cancer, two of them serious. My prognosis on all three is excellent for 10 to 15 year survival. After that, if one of my other problems doesn't kill me first, my odds of dying from anything start going up tremendously. I know I won't be on this Bored 50 years from now.

The type of treatment I had for my prostate cancer was something called High Dose-Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, and I believe it's about five years old. (Weyoun can probably update me on this). So my treatment was a direct result of some of that 3 quadrillion dollars of research that was spent. 23 million patients have died of cancer over some unspecified time period, but a lot of others have had meaningful lives extended for years. In many cases, they're still alive or they stayed alive until something unrelated took them out.
