Lyrically Speaking - 2/24/25

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Mon Feb 24, 2025 7:46 am

How is it possible that we've already reached the final week of the 2025 LSWE? Maybe because it's only five weeks long, and it started four weeks ago.... but I guess it doesn't seem like that. Anyway, here's your final Sesame Street Monday game of the year, which is brought to you by the letter T. Odd - T titles, Even - T artists. Now on to our totally titillating test...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. She said that living with me
Is bringing her down, yeah
For she would never be free
When I was around

2. Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar?
And did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself out there?

3. Ev'ry girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear till it's my turn
I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no

4. You were the child of the sun
And the sky and the deep blue sea

5. I'm falling down a spiral, destination unknown
Double-crossed messenger all alone

6. See the lights of a neighbor's house
Now she's starting to rise
Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes

7. So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But I'll be stumblin' away
Slowly learnin' that life is okay

8. But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me
Won't defeat me, it won't be long
Till happiness steps up to greet me

9. Listen boy
It's not automatically a certain guarantee
To insure yourself
You've got to provide communication constantly

10. The bigger, the better
Some stolen from Japan
Collected from around the world,
They'll catch you if they can

11. Come with me
Don't say no (Please don't say no)
Hold me close (And hold me close)

12. Workin' all week, 9 to 5 for my money
So when the weekend comes I go get live with the honey

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist where either one begins with the letter T (5 points if BOTH begin with T).

Anyway, here's your final Sesame Street Monday game of the year, which is brought to you by the letter T. Odd - T titles, Even - T artists. Now on to our totally titillating test...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. She said that living with me
Is bringing her down, yeah
For she would never be free
When I was around

Ticket to Ride - Beatles

Why is the first song always the Beatles?

2. Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar?
And did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself out there?

Drops of Jupiter - Train

3. Ev'ry girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear till it's my turn
I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no

The Tide is High - Blondie

4. You were the child of the sun
And the sky and the deep blue sea

Ma Belle Amie - The Tee Set

I still have the .45!

5. I'm falling down a spiral, destination unknown
Double-crossed messenger all alone

Twilight Zone - Golden Earring

6. See the lights of a neighbor's house
Now she's starting to rise
Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes

7. So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But I'll be stumblin' away
Slowly learnin' that life is okay

Take on Me - A-ha

8. But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me
Won't defeat me, it won't be long
Till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head - BJ Thomas

Is sprots going to claim her prescient points? Will she be any more succesful than I usually am?

9. Listen boy
It's not automatically a certain guarantee
To insure yourself
You've got to provide communication constantly

Tell Her About It - Billy Joel

10. The bigger, the better
Some stolen from Japan
Collected from around the world,
They'll catch you if they can

11. Come with me
Don't say no (Please don't say no)
Hold me close (And hold me close)

12. Workin' all week, 9 to 5 for my money
So when the weekend comes I go get live with the honey

Wild Thing - Tone LOC

aka Funky Cold Medina woohoo!!!!

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist where either one begins with the letter T (5 points if BOTH begin with T).

Trouble - Travis Tritt

sorry, but I had to go C&W to get the "t"riple krox....

1. She said that living with me
Is bringing her down, yeah
For she would never be free
When I was around
Ticket To Ride - Beatles (It just seems natural to throw the Beatles on first since I usually decide to lead off with the biggest song. Hint for those who read the answers: The Beatles appear two more times in the LSWE, and one of them will NOT be the first song!)

2. Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar?
And did you miss me
While you were looking for yourself out there?
Drops of Jupiter - Train (My "instantly takes me back to the year 2000 when I hear the intro" song... and yes, I think the song came out a year later, but that's the Mandela Effect for you)....)

3. Ev'ry girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear till it's my turn
I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no
The Tide Is High - Blondie

4. You were the child of the sun
And the sky and the deep blue sea
Ma Belle Amie - The Tee Set (One of those rare Dutch acts to invade the US charts... all of whom were one hit wonders with the exception of.....)

5. I'm falling down a spiral, destination unknown
Double-crossed messenger all alone
Twilight Zone - Golden Earring (..... this one!)

6. See the lights of a neighbor's house
Now she's starting to rise
Take a minute to concentrate
And she opens up her eyes
And She Was - Talking Heads (Always loved the video for this song. Very Jim Blashfield-esque, but I don't think this was one of his works --- Edit: Ha! It actually is!!!)

7. So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But I'll be stumblin' away
Slowly learnin' that life is okay
Take On Me - A-ha

8. But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me
Won't defeat me, it won't be long
Till happiness steps up to greet me
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head - BJ Thomas (I originally had Toto here with the song "Rosanna," but that's a terrible one for LS. So I decided to tweak Sprots' nose by replacing it with this one..... hence NO PRESCIENT POINTS!!!!)

9. Listen boy
It's not automatically a certain guarantee
To insure yourself
You've got to provide communication constantly
Tell Her About It - Billy Joel

10. The bigger, the better
Some stolen from Japan
Collected from around the world,
They'll catch you if they can
Lies - Thompson Twins

11. Come with me
Don't say no (Please don't say no)
Hold me close (And hold me close)
Tracy - The Cuff Links (This song kinda came out of left field, but it was a Mecca earworm a few years ago and that's the only place I even know it from... other than my Mom mentioning it when she talks about meeting Ron Dante at the Happy Together Tour...)

12. Workin' all week, 9 to 5 for my money
So when the weekend comes I go get live with the honey
Wild Thing - Tone Loc

This was a big scoring game for everyone, both in base points and JJCP's! Lots of great IB's... but I was wondering if anyone would find a way to pay tribute to T-Bone, and jarnon did, so he gets the IBB!

JJC Points:

Krox gets 3 JJC points for laying it on the line with Triumph, and for Tootsie, who I obviously didn't recognize, but got a good laugh when I found out...

BiT gets a supermax for trying for 7 T's (someone else also Kroxed that song, but only BiT mentioned all the T's), and for another Hollywood character reference...

frank gets 2 JJC points for shameless self promotion (and it probably won't be the last time this week)....

Weasel gets 2 JJC points for making The The work, and for Tetris and life (the tetramino serial killer woulda got a supermax, though)....

ear gets 2 JJC points for making me nauseous...

elwood gets 3 JJC points for asshole truckers (been there, nearly got smashed by one in college making an illegal right turn on red when they couldn't even see pedestrians from their cab)....

Search gets 3 JJC points for the Teen Titans Tower (Which I shouldn't know, but I did....)

jarnon gets a supermax for swiping TBone's ES tattoo art...

melly gets 2 JJC points for taxis in Times Square (I wonder if Xiang Chung, who took me and Dad from TS back to the Empire in 2001, is still driving a cab)....

Vandal gets 3 JJC points for the best non-image Image Bonus in the history of the LSWE....

mikeh gets 3 JJC points for skipping the nose picking step...

Sprots gets 2 JJC points for not knowing any songs other than the easy ones, and for an image of honey that just happens to have a T word on the label...

Earl gets 2 JJC points for noticing the Beatles on first, and for a bunch of cats who look pissed off that someone dressed them like dollies...

mrk gets 2 JJC points for someone who needs to get eaten by a tiger (I actually thought it was whichever one of Sigfried and Roy got devoured a while back until I looked it up)...

Points:

Krox 20+3
BiT 20+5
frank 30+2
Weasel 28+2
ear 20+2
elwood 24+3
Search 26+3
