Lyrically Speaking - 2/17/25

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Mon Feb 17, 2025 7:44 am

This week's Sesame Street Monday is brought to you by one of my favorite letters, B! Odd: B song title, Even: B artists... but you knew that already, right? Don't be afraid to be big, bold, bodacious... or just let it be.

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. They told him, "Don't you ever come around here"
"Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear"

2. When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah!

3. Instead of breaking up
Lets do some kissing and making up

4. Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

5. From where I stand
It looks mighty strange
How you let a woman like that
Treat you like small change

6. They say I'm nasty
But I don't give a damn
Getting girls is how I live

7. I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder

8. Will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away, don't believe it's comin' back soon

9. Music comes on, people start to dance
But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants

10. And now we meet in an abandoned studio.
We hear the playback and it seems so long ago

11. And everybody comes and comes again

12. Man, living at home is such a drag
Now your mom threw away your best porno mag

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist whose title or artist begins with the letter B (5 points if both begin with B).

In most statuary, she has big bodacious bare ones, but I chose this print because it's beautiful and reminds me a lot of your AI art game from last year

Beat It, Michael Jackson

2. When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah!

A Hard Day's Night, Beatles

3. Instead of breaking up
Lets do some kissing and making up

Baby Love, Supremes

4. Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

Sloop John B, Beach Boys

5. From where I stand
It looks mighty strange
How you let a woman like that
Treat you like small change

Dang, I was doing great. :(

6. They say I'm nasty
But I don't give a damn
Getting girls is how I live

7. I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder

Born to be wild, Steppenwolf

8. Will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away, don't believe it's comin' back soon

Gloria, Laura Branigan

B.J. Thomas, Raindrops are fallin on my head. Parts of that movie were shot around here.

Image Bonus: B is for... Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: "The fall will probably kill ya." Did I mention parts of that movie were filmed around here?

1. They told him, "Don't you ever come around here"
"Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear"
Beat It - Michael Jackson (The first song I ever knew Jacko for. And if I ever hear the story about how Eddie did that guitar solo for a 6 pack of beer again, I'll throw up...)

2. When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah!
Hard Day's Night - Beatles

3. Instead of breaking up
Lets do some kissing and making up
Baby Love - Supremes

4. Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home?
This is the worst trip I've ever been on
Sloop John B - Beach Boys

5. From where I stand
It looks mighty strange
How you let a woman like that
Treat you like small change
Bad Blood - Neil Sedaka

6. They say I'm nasty
But I don't give a damn
Getting girls is how I live
My Prerogative - Bobby Brown

7. I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder
Born To Be Wild - Steppenwolf (So many people have Kroxed this this year, that I had to go back and make sure I hadn't actually used it yet...)

8. Will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away, don't believe it's comin' back soon
Gloria - Laura Branigan (Sorry Earl, you're on your own here. This song is pure 80's fun, and even the Blues hijacking it the year they lucked into a Stanley Cup hasn't killed my love for it...)

9. Music comes on, people start to dance
But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants
Bust A Move - Young MC

10. And now we meet in an abandoned studio.
We hear the playback and it seems so long ago
Video Killed the Radio Star - Buggles

11. And everybody comes and comes again
Big Balls - AC/DC (Though I'm not sure they intended it spell it that way...)

12. Man, living at home is such a drag
Now your mom threw away your best porno mag
(.....) Fight For Your Right (.....) - Beastie Boys

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist whose title or artist begins with the letter B (5 points if both begin with B).

I was a bit shocked at how few doubles there were. I figured B would be an EZ letter to double up, but either I was wrong or everyone's phoning it in!

Image Bonus: B is for...

As much as I hated to do it, I had to yield to Earl's insistence for the IBB with Bastet, who's made me a little scratch over the last year on my AI art side hustle (though not as much as my female Anubian jackals, hey don't judge furries! They have lots of money to burn!)....

Hey, when I was reading the answers I was seriously composing a post in my head to let you know that you put the wrong Beatles song there. I even sang it (once again) and went into I Want to Hold Your Hand (again!). That's when I realized, they have the same damned tune....

Yay for you knowing Bastet. I'm assuming I would have gotten a Supermax had I actually chosen one that you'd done....ha!

See my answer post for today for my thoughts on alternating and direct current...

So I got an extra FFF out of a misinterpretation of one of my comments! YAY!

I was actually referring to the lyrics I used for Big Balls....

Probably you can't read, or maybe (more likely) you just want to annoy me. How is the B in B.J. Thomas not a B?

You owe me 75 JJC points.

That would be because this is not Mecca, and we don't alphabetize by first name here...

I could give you 750 JJC points, and you'd probably still be in 15th place or thereabouts...
