2525 - Annum 9

In the year ____, the following events occurred:

1- Two US presidents die this year, one while in office, the other nearly a decade after leaving office.

2- An American financier and investment banker founds US Steel.

3- A gravel-voiced jazz musician is born in New Orleans.

4- An electrical engineer sends the first transatlantic radio signal from England to Newfoundland.

5- A veteran pitcher wins the triple crown (wins, ERA, strikeouts) for the Boston Americans. Had it been around, he likely would have won the award that was later named after him (got that?).

6- China and the Eight-Nation Alliance sign the _____ Protocol on September 7 to end a historically famous rebellion.

7- A major earthquake and fire kills 700 people in a Western US city.

8- A fictional nine-year-old named Vito Andolini escapes from Italy to New York City after mafia chieftain Don kills the rest of his family.

I have gotten more mileage out of a two volume set on the presidents that came out during the bicentennial. But I always skip by the McKinley section because there's a picture of some Asian guy surrounded by a bunch of heads. Someday I'll dig that out and find out exactly who and what it is that happened during the Big Mac administration!

I should have 27, yeah? Since I should have gotten three points for the year (although I don't know why the hell I put 1903 because I know damn well when McKinley was assassinated. I'm blaming the 1901-1906 controversy. Or getting docked for being a dumbass and mixing up JP Morgan and JJ Astor. I just see Titanic and knee jerk Astor, I even went on about a damn book I read! I was quite the Titanic buff back in the 70s after I did a paper on it in 6th grade. We had to pick a date out of a folder and then figure out what happened on that day, which was much more difficult back in the dark ages BI (before internet). Weird thing was, I saw April 14, 1912 and just automatically knew what it was, don't know how I knew, I just did...

Also fun fact on Cy Young, I though it was over 500, so I just put down my birthday for the number. Come to find out, it was my mom's birthday! I wonder if I read that years ago and somehow associated it so that's why I knew it was 500-something.
