Marshall University, which finished 10-3 and won the Sun Belt Conference championship, has opted out of the Independence Bowl, where they were scheduled to meet Army. The day after the championship game, their coach left for Southern Miss and several key players decided to enter the transfer portal. Marshall will be replaced by Louisiana Tech, which finished 5-7 on the year. Considering how Army fared in the game against Navy, they may be quite relieved to hear this.

Something has to be done about the transfer portal, which is turning into a revolving door for players to pick and choose each year where to go, and you have some players winding up on four or five teams in their college careers.
