Longtime basketball coach at St. Johns from the 1960s into the 90s, who won over 500 games and made the Hall of Fame. He was instrumental in the creation of the Big East Conference. The school's arena is now named after him.

I think the Big East in the 80's had to have had the most colorful group of coaches in college basketball

Carnesecca had his sweaters
Jim Boeheim always looked he had just come from teaching a freshman seminar
Rick Pitino always looked like he had come from a meeting with John Gotti
John Thompson always had the towel on his shoulder
Rollie Massimino always looked like his head would explode any second.

Great memories.
