I Feel Sorry for the Republicans at the Convention
They had to listen to 92 minutes of Trump:
1) Praising his miraculous salvation from the assassin's bullet and then kissing the prop jacket and helmet onstage from the fireman who died (the helmet misspelled the fireman's name); and
2) Meandering and rambling and repeating his usual claims about the stolen election; millions of migrants from prisons and insane asylums; the Chinese virus; and all the usual BS, in a more disjointed manner than usual.

It was his best speech ever, IMO. I feel sorry for the Democrats that have to attend the rudderless s**t show that will be the DNC. I'm stocking up on popcorn.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 7:29 amThey had to listen to 92 minutes of Trump:

Re: I Feel Sorry for the Republicans at the Convention
Let's see what they do at the dem convention, which I suspect will be divisive and angry, full of radical TDS on display. If they even decide to go through with it at all. My opinion is that if biden drops out, they should just not nominate anyone and sit this election out. After all, the rank and file of the democrat party chose biden as their nominee. Don't the democrats honor the democratic process?
One thing I am surprised about: Very little noise from protesters.
Overall, a fantastic, energetic and positive convention. Can't wait to talk to the people I know who were delegates and alternates. When they get back. Might be delayed because of the crowdstrike problem.
Here's one person's view of the difference.

Not my words, but I agree with it:
Trump Derangement Syndrome on parade. Assuming you are a normal person, you would not post anything like that about anyone else. Well, maybe me, too.Democrats are so vile that they would disparage a tribute to a man who literally died protecting his family from gunfire because the volunteer fire department he worked for had a typo on his firefighter jacket.
Like that’s already been confirmed, and the fact that I see idiots liking and reposting the same talking point that was handed out by the DNC in regards to the typo on the jacket during Trump’s speech last night is another example that the only people who are in a cult of idiocy are Democrats.

This tragedy is a lot fresher than Beau Biden. Trump said he wouldn't mention it anymore. We'll see. I kept hoping he’d snap out of his listless funk for fear that if he continued with the rambling Biden and them would be thinking: “We can definitely beat this guy.”
He totally blew what was a golden opportunity.

I keep hoping Dems will snap out of their "the sky is falling" - it'll
be the end of civilization if Trump's elected. I'm utterly certain it's a vain hope, but still I hope.
Just watched some coverage of dems discussing whether Biden should drop out, and some woman says, "Trump MUST NOT be re-elected." Bish? Tf gives her the right to make that determination? What happened to "let the voters decide"? Just...seriously.

Even just judging from the sampling here, the lefties give no ground, not an inch, on anything when it comes to trump. Anything and everything he does or says is pure evil to them. They even dig deep to find fault with him honoring Comperatore, when their own guy completely dishonored and still ignores the 13 soldiers who died in Afghanistan. That, to me, is vile. But that is what they do, and I cannot fathom it. Where does that level of pure hatred come from?

Exactly what I'm talking about. How the fuck do you know? I'm sure Corey's family and friends were genuinely moved by his gesture. And if he didn't do something like that, I'm sure you would criticize it too. And, of course, you make no mention of biden's disgraceful treatment of the soldiers who died under his watch. Another one of your easily disproved false claims. Admittedly, Biden didn't invite the families of the dead soldiers up on stage at the convention to make a spectacle of themselves as Trump did.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 9:50 pmThey even dig deep to find fault with him honoring Comperatore, when their own guy completely dishonored and still ignores the 13 soldiers who died in Afghanistan.
Biden meets with families of service members killed in Kabul as U.S. races to exit Afghanistan
This was one of the low points of Biden's presidency. But he did not ignore the fallen soldiers. Instead, he met with their families and attended the ceremony for the return of their remains to the United States.President Biden on Sunday paid his respects to the 13 Americans killed in last week's suicide bombing in Afghanistan as his military leaders tried to avert more carnage in the final days of a chaotic withdrawal from the country, carrying out a strike on a vehicle in Kabul that officials said posed a terrorist threat. Biden flew to an Air Force base here to receive the fallen service members, whose remains were returned to the United States on Sunday morning. He first met privately with their family members, including some who have expressed anger at him, and then watched quietly as flag-draped cases transporting the bodies were carried off a plane — a somber moment during the most volatile crisis of his presidency.
The pain [the deaths have] caused was on stark display on an overcast day at Dover Air Force Base. As the remains were moved from the massive C-17 jet that brought them home into large transport vans, the sound of anguished sobbing could be heard at points from the area reserved for family members of the dead.
The process, known in the military as a "dignified transfer," has become a solemn ritual for presidents in recent years. Barack Obama attended twice. Donald Trump made four trips.
For Biden, whose life and political identity have been shaped heavily by tragedy — his wife and young daughter died in a car crash in 1972 and his eldest child, Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015 — it was the first of his presidency. Dressed in black and wearing a mask, he stood on the tarmac with first lady Jill Biden and other dignitaries and observed the transfers, bowing his head and appearing to close his eyes occasionally. But this time, he was present for tragic circumstances he has accepted blame for setting into motion, and some family members of the dead service members remained angry with him, including the family of Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, one of the 13 Americans who died last week. One of McCollum's sisters, Roice, said she and her sister and her father joined McCollum's wife, Jiennah McCollum, on the trip. But when it came time to meet with the president, they left the room, because she said they did not want to speak with the man they held responsible for McCollum's death.

Yeah, he did not ignore them. I have seen video of the event. He was there. That was about it. And he gave the impression he didn't want to be there, as he checked his watch several times. The families are on record saying the administration are not happy with the lack of communication and the disrespect. That is their opinion. They testified about it at the RNC. I guess I didn't see or hear that. And of course, I did not hear him say that no military deaths occurred during his administration during the debate. How do you reconcile this in your head?

Re: I Feel Sorry for the Republicans at the Convention
He was there. Those events are private; they aren't public funerals, so there was no occasion for him to make a speech. He did meet with every family. I can understand that people would be upset at the President's visit. What he didn't do was call them suckers and losers like Trump did. More on how Trump treated the families of those who died in service during his administration. Note that this article was written in October, 2017, less than a year into Trump's presidency:flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 8:56 amYeah, he did not ignore them. How Donald Trump has comforted the families of 43 fallen soldiers
Biden did incorrectly claim during the debate that no soldiers died during his Presidency, but I think we all know that the President wasn't at his best during that debate. When are you going to discuss Trump's dozens of lies during the same debate, many of which he continues to repeat? Some got sympathy and solace. Some got silence. One got a promise of cash. Relatives of people who died in military service have recounted varied interactions with President Donald Trump in the difficult days and weeks after the deaths of their loved ones. Despite Trump’s boast that he reaches out personally to all families of the fallen, interviews with families members did not support his claim. Some never heard from him at all, and a few who did came away more upset.
The Associated Press reached out to the families of all 43 people who have died in military service since Trump became president and made contact with about half the families. Of those who would address the question, relatives of nine said they had heard from Trump by phone or mail. Relatives of nine others said they haven’t.
Several spoke of being comforted by Trump but at least one call went awry: Cowanda Jones-Johnson told the AP that Trump spoke disrespectfully of her fallen nephew, Sgt. La David Johnson, when he called family members Tuesday. Johnson was among four servicemen killed in Niger earlier this month. Chris Baldridge of Zebulon, North Carolina, told The Washington Post that Trump promised him $25,000 of his own money when they spoke in the summer about the loss of his son, Army Sgt. Dillon Baldridge, killed in Afghanistan, but the check never came. The White House said Wednesday, after the report, that “the check has been sent.”
Others waited for calls that did not come. After Army Sgt. Jonathon M. Hunter died in a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan in August, his family was told to expect a call from Trump. But it didn’t happen. Hunter, 23, from Columbus, Indiana, died 32 days into his first deployment since joining the Army in 2014.
Mark Hunter, his father, said a military casualty officer informed the family that Trump would call and the family was let down when he didn’t. “Disappointed that he at least didn’t call and thank me for my son and our ultimate sacrifice,” Hunter said. “That’s all I wanted to hear. He didn’t have to say nothing else. That’s all I wanted to hear. From him — not the vice president.” “Disappointed that he at least didn’t call and thank me for my son and our ultimate sacrifice. That’s all I wanted to hear. He didn’t have to say nothing else.” The family spoke with Vice President Mike Pence, who grew up in the same southern Indiana city, at the ceremony honoring the return of the soldier’s remains at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. So did several other families who lost loved ones in uniform.
After Army Spc. Christopher Michael Harris, 25, of Jackson Springs, North Carolina, was killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan in August, the White House offered to set up a call but “it fell through” and no letter came from the president, either, said his widow, Brittany Harris. Aaron Butler, a 27-year-old guardsman from Monticello, Utah, was killed Aug. 16 at a booby-trapped building in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. His mother, Laura Butler, and family spokesman Bill Boyle said Trump has not called or sent a letter. The family is not complaining. “The family is very careful that they do not want to be pulled into a partisan slugfest,” Boyle said. Jodie Missildine’s 20-year-old stepson, Alex Missildine, was killed Oct. 1 when an IED exploded near his vehicle in Ninawa Province, Iraq. He had been in Iraq for less than a month. Jodie Missildine said the family had received an outpouring of support from Washington since receiving news of Alex’s death. But when asked if Trump had been in contact, she demurred, saying, “We will not speak ill of a president who adores his troops.”
Cynthia Kimball received a letter from the president, but no call, after her Navy son John Henry Hoagland III died in the collision between the USS John S. McCain and a merchant vessel in August. “They said we could order more copies of it if we wanted,” she said. “It was pretty generic. I hate to say that, because it did come from Washington and the president. But, I’m going to guess that it was the same or similar to the letter that everybody else received.” McCain, himself, though, called her and other families of the victims. He left a “really nice” phone message with his cell phone number in case she needed anything, she said. Kimball lives in Fort Benning, Georgia, and her son grew up in Cleveland, Texas.

Re: I Feel Sorry for the Republicans at the Convention
He hasn't been at his best his whole career, but in the past several years he is even worse. But nice try at an excuse. It doesn't do much for me or anyone else that has a functioning brain, but I'm assuming that helps you reconcile the complete cross-wiring in your head.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 10:00 amHe was there.

Oh, I saw the video of the CNN assclown hysterically 'fact checking' trump's RNC speech. Offered NO facts of his own, just repeating the same proclamations from the bullshit world narrative. It reminded me of Monty Python's Argument Clinic. Like trump 'falsely' claims there was fraud in the 2020 election. That is provably not a false statement, but the 'journalists' don't care to do any research or examine the evidence for themselves, just like you. I have shown evidence right here on this bored that contradicts his 'trump lie' with facts, and there's plenty more. Enough to put Georgia's election results in doubt, according to a State Election Board investigation, which would have changed the national result. So their 'Fact Checker' is lying in this one instance, and that discredits anything else he has to say. Case closed.
And for future reference, don't use media conglomerate 'fact checkers' as an argument. I have just refuted one. I don't want to go over this issue again with you. Besides, you yourself don't believe them, as I assume you still subscribe to the Charlottesville Lie, and disagree with Snopes.
