You are correct. It was a joke. A completely immature and racist joke at the expense of people who are fleeing desperately horrific conditions in their home countries. It was a joke. A joke that was completely inappropriate for someone aspiring to the dignity of the highest office in the land. Whenever something like this happens, I think back to John McCain in 2008 at a campaign event when a supporter said she couldn't trust Obama because he was an Arab.kroxquo wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 8:55 amIt was a joke. That was John McCain's finest moment. And it's a moment you're unlikely to see again in the foreseeable future at any Republican campaign event. But John McCain was an American hero who "earned" Trump's ridicule by being captured in a war Trump and his daddy pulled all the strings they could to avoid. The descent of the Reepublcan party from a principled conservative party represented by men like Dwight Eisenhower and John McCain to what we have today is a sad spectacle.McCain grabbed the microphone from her, cutting her off. “No, ma’am,” he said. “He’s a decent family man [and] citizen that just I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues, and that’s what the campaign’s all about. And that was a sample size of seven games, as opposed to McCain’s one election. It is telling that you think his problem, and keep in mind we’re talking about a war hero who served this country well for decades, was that he was not a big enough asshole, and wasn’t willing to spread lies and make insinuations about Arabs.

Trump's win, and Obama's wins were more like 51 indipendent elections. They were weighted differently but as with sports tournaments, total score doesn't matter. Or maybe a better analogy, as least using football, is total yards don't matter, just points. At any rate, the fact that any elected President didn't get the majority of the elecotarte is incosequential (and bringing it up is just whinning).Weyoun wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 10:17 amAnd that was a sample size of seven games, as opposed to McCain’s one election. How about we take a step back. You have seemingly concluded that the reason McCain lost was that he was the reasonable human being, just like the Edmonton Oilers lost because they scored too many goals. Can you show some kind of evidence that McCain’s problem was that he didn’t want Obama tortured alive, and id he just craved more murdering and dehumanization, he would’ve won? I feel like we’ve just gone down this rabbit hole of pointless mathematical comparisons for the wrong reasonsBackInTex wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 10:43 amTrump's win, and Obama's wins were more like 51 indipendent elections. I assume, doc, that you are subscriber to the Charlottesville lie, just like our esteemed president. Until you, like snopes reluctantly did, admit that it was one of the first of the innumerable media lies (like this one) about what trump said and what he meant, do like I said at the beginning: give it a rest, man. I seem to remember someone, maybe trollboy, suggesting at some time in the past that you were a conservative. LMAO. You are more in the tank than the rest of the leftists on this bored.

And then you have the champion of your league — these are the greatest fighters in the world — fight the champion of the migrants. I think the migrants’ guy might win, that’s how tough they are,”
What, exactly, is 'racist' about that? He doesn't call them bums. He doesn't even call them illegals. Ever heard of Lucha Libra? It's a pretty big deal in Mexico. Trump having dabbled in promoting a time or two, I have no doubt this idea has occurred to him. I suspect the idea would be met with enthusiasm among the migrants.

The Doc and I were right, as Snopes acknowledges. You and Trump were, are, and will always be wrong. For the record, virtually every source that covered the Unite the Right debacle concluded that it was conceived of, led by and attended by white supremacists, and that therefore Trump's characterization was wrong.

You really believe that? That there was no one, not one person there, who didn't want the statue removed solely for historical purposes? Or do you believe that anyone who didn't want the statute removed is either a neo-Nazi or white nationalist, or both?silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 2:02 pmThat's the part you don't understand. I understand it alright. I know if this was in Atlanta, I might have been there. But you believe me to be a 'not fine' person. And I am 100% certain there were good, law-abiding people in Charlottesville that did not support the idea of taking down that statue. I know you weren't there, and you are taking the word of many equally TDS-suffering people, when you know it was impossible to ascertain what you are claiming.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 2:02 pmThat's the part you don't understand. At the very worst, trump was guilty of not knowing the mindset of everyone there. He doesn't have your skills in knowing everyone's motivations, or the skills in that area of the MSM Conglomerate. But he did categorically state who he condemned. You deliberately ignore that, just like the J6 Starchamber omitted Trump telling the crowd to remain peaceful and later to go home.
BTW, what was the radius of the area in Charlottesville that you claim there was not one fine person in? Can you define that for me? Can you give me a map of everyone in that defined area and designate for me who was 'fine' and who was 'not fine'?
Charlottesville is a closed subject as far as I'm concerned. You can bring it back up, but until you can come up with answers for my previous paragraph, you are pissing in the wind.

Yeah, the mere thought that all those peaceful, poor, well, basically innocent children crossing our border in droves actually being interested in wrestling (not to mention, oh, say, raping and killing innocent Americans) is simply inhuman. Still waiting to hear how it was 'racist.' He didn't call them thugs, bums or even illegals. Or deplorable.

Re: Former president jokes that migrants should fight
In the Spring area in our basic vicinity a 12 yr old was killed by two "undocumented" sorts.
There are also many folks from the mideast, far east coming across the suthren border. Do they, too, deserve asylum?

I'm sure they were just upset over Trump's suggestion they might like to wrestle professionally.

Yes he did. Oh wait, you're talking about Trump. I was thinking you were talking about Doc. My misktake.

So you believe Snopes only when it agrees with you and disbelieve the complete dearth of evidence about any actual "very fine people" being there. And there were law-abiding people in Charlottesville that did not support the idea of taking down that statue. They stayed away from that demonstration because they knew what was going to happen. The people taking part in the demonstration were the neo-Nazis and white supremacists shown in many, many pictures. Funny how there's not a single picture or tweet or Facebook post showing genuine "really fine people" at the demonstration.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 2:48 pmAnd I am 100% certain there were good, law-abiding people in Charlottesville that did not support the idea of taking down that statue. I know you weren't there, and you are taking the word of many equally TDS-suffering people, when you know it was impossible to ascertain what you are claiming.
Got it.
