Star of the film MASH, the Hunger Games, The Dirty Dozen, Animal House, and many more. He recently played Judge Isaac Parker in the Bass Reeves limited series on Paramount+. For a long time Sutherland was thought of as a comic actor because of MASH and The Dirty Dozen, but he was a much better dramatic actor than many gave him credit for. And father of Kiefer Sutherland. Like Christopher Plummer and some others of his generation, Sutherland was Canadian and found it easier getting roles on British TV of the early 60s than in the US or Canada.

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

Re: RIP Donald Sutherland
Sutherland was a brilliant dramatic actor. I barely remember MASH, but I remember clearly Klute and Ordinary People. Directors get a lot of credit for actor Oscar wins, but I just wonder how much credit Sutherland gets for Fonda's win and Moore's nomination.
I remember a review of Ordinary People. It says about Sutherland, "Impossible to miscast."
