I should have known better as he has a long history of making up stuff about fellow poster's posting history and not just about yours and mine.

Many of you have probably seen that I put SSS on my "Foe" list-mainly because I got tired of the endless "Spock is a Putin Lover" crap.

After due consideration, I have decided to also put Weyoun on my "Foe" list because of his large body of lies about fellow poster's posting history.

There is no law that says I have to read lies about fellow posters when I come here.

I have a "hack" that I plan to employ with him. I figured out that I see "Foe's" posts when I don't log in.

I will probably check into the main Bored without logging in so I can see any interesting movie type stuff that is his forte-and I reserve the right to respond there on topic and such.

But, I will log in when I come over here.

Also re-SSS

I might reinstate him after while. Not the other one though

Maybe he can think of it as being on "Time-Out" for awhile and I will see if I miss him or not.

I don't have any clue how doc and trollboy get their vile interpretation of this video. i don't understand cray. either. But the point of the video is that Russia is building and training an elite fighting force. They seem to be looking for a specific type of recruit. That is what they seem to be going for. How successful they are in doing that is anybody's guess.

We seem to be advertising for a 'diverse' military of people who believe they want an adventure. I believe our recruiting numbers are down, due to other reasons the usual suspects won't want to discuss, so they want to appeal to 'progressives' of all types. I won't get into the unintended consequences of that approach to morale, effectiveness and cohesiveness, which were, in the past, major considerations in building a military force.

Having worked with Army recruiting (before I went to the Corps of Engineers), I can tell you that recruiting numbers tend to vary with external factors, particularly the economy. When times are good and jobs are available, recruiting goes down. The reverse is true when the economy goes south. Recruiting numbers also vary depending upon the military's needs - when I was in recruiting (early 1980s), the ASVAB test administered to all potential recruits had a cutoff of 80; below that and a person would not qualify. Additionally, there were other factors such as whether the person had a criminal record and what that record was for. Today's military is a high-tech organization and smart people are needed to fill the bill. But there are so many other things that smart people can do that the military has to appeal to them by "adventure" opportunities.

You mean like these guys (from the same thread where Spock first posted the recruitment video). Russia has suffered 500,000 casualties so far with 150,000 dead. During the entire Vietnam War, we lost about 60,000 dead in over 10 years. The reason the Russians have made advances in the last few months is because Ukraine is out of ammo, not because of some elite Russian combat forces.
