RIP Me

#1 Post by Bruce the Wonder Cat » Sat May 10, 2008 7:44 pm

Well, the darndest thing just happened. I was really enjoying my mid-morning nap (the one where I rest up following my early morning nap, in preparation for my late morning nap), but when it was time for me to wake up, well, I didn't. THAT'S never happened before.

We celebrated my 23rd birthday three weeks ago, and it was really cool, except that that jackass wintergreen kept making comments about how, 'Well, at least he's still alive. Not that you can tell most of the time.' I guess me being dead will put a little crimp on next year's 24th birthday celebration.

I have to say, being dead isn't all that bad.

First off, I got my nuts back! It's really great; I understand that there's lots of neat stuff I can do with my nuts, but it has been so long since deranged Dr. Fred CUT MY NUTS OFF that I don't rightly recall just what it is that they are good for. But I am sure there must be SOMEthing cool that I can do with them, why else would deranged Dr. Fred have taken them away?

And this place is just FILLED with hamsters. Some of them were squashed (which is how they got here), but they are all doing well now. There is a rule here about how we are not supposed to eat each other, but I swore off on eating Small Rodents after the, um, 'Sparky Incident' a few years ago, so that's not a problem. We have a good time playing with each other.

And the catnip here is the best-- absolute primo Colombian 'nip, and I get all I want, whenever I want it.

This is just great.

Oh, and Tigger says 'Hi!' to y'all (well, I THINK Tigger is saying 'Hi!' but it is hard to tell: I am not completely fluent in Doggish, and the doggy slobber gets in the way of understanding what Tigger is saying, but I am pretty sure it was a cheerful 'Hi!')

All hamsters go to heaven. We are too cute to be sent down there with the evil squashed squirrels....

RIP Bruce. Enjoy getting reacquainted with your nuts....

So sorry to hear about this, Michael. However, 23 years is amazing! I just hope we have that much time with Eddie, the wonder cat, who is closing in on 4.

I hope Bruce finds our 2 bunnies, Foo Foo and Harvey and says "Hi".

Where are your legs that used to run, hurroo, hurroo
Where are your legs that used to run, hurroo, hurroo
Where are your legs that used to run
When you went for to carry a gun
Indeed your dancing days are done
Oh Bruce, I hardly knew ye.

My condolences to those who knew you better than I.

I'm so sorry, Wintergreen. Bruce really was a WonderCat. I enjoyed having him around.

Aw, Bruce, rats. I will miss you. That is, I never met you, but I'm pretty sure we would have gotten along just fine, as we could have taken naps together and traded stories about evil squirrels and other pushy rodents. I know your dad will miss you a lot! I send him wet kisses and warm snuggles for whenever he gets sad about not having you around.

I'm not at all surprised that Tigger found you right away. She's like that. I'm only surprised to hear that she drooled, as she used to have the best manners of any four-footer I ever knew.

Enjoy everything about The Place You're In Now. I hear the food is excellent, too. Here's wishing you a wonderful forever, my friend.

P.S. If you're interested in older women, now that all your parts are restored, my sister Sam-I-Am is somewhere around there. Even though she was pretty, I don't think she ever had a date, so don't try to move in too fast. If riled, that girl can hit hard!

I am so sorry Wintergreen.

It was a very long time for a kitty. I am glad you had that much time together.

Peace to you Bruce.

My condolences to you Wintergreen. R.I.P. Wonder Cat.

23 is amazing, I think the Siamese my mom had many years ago (adopted at an old age) did not quite make 23.

Bruce is like a member of our family. I'm very sorry for Wintergreen, but Bruce sounds like he's gonna be just fine. A faithful friend to the end and such a thoughtful way to leave this world. I will miss Bruce a lot.

If you see my old dog, Max, see if he's changed his attitude toward cats before you say hello, otherwise you might lose some more body parts.

Glad to meet you Bruce, but please keep those nuts away from me. I'm through dealing with tomcats now that I'm up here, thank you.

I only got to spend half as much time on earth as you did, but that's still twice as long as the rest of Beast's pets from back in the day lived. Everything that idiot and his evil sisters touched withered and died or disappeared....

Good to have known you, Bruce. Enjoy the new old equipment along with the rest of the amenities.

And don't forget to send Dad and the family a postcard from time to time...

Since you're posting this message, you must be Bruce_the_Wonder_ Cats_Gh0st, now. I know the transition can be confusing, but if you read the Handbook for the Recently Deceased--instead of using it to sharpen your claws--that might help.

And if you're interested in doing some haunting, after you settle in, I could always use some help on a stubborn case called TPTB.

Condolences, wintergreen.

Oh Bruce. And just when Merv was going to need a go-to cat for schmoozing next week when his NUTS GET CUT OFF.

I am sorry about your dying, but am happy that it wasn't a messy death and that you lasted 23 years, even without your bits and pieces. I'm sure you developed compensating talents, like lute or ornament juggling.

Please look up Lucky--he would enjoy shootin' the shite with you, because he, too, lost his acorns when he was young and probably has joined a nuts and friends support group, which would help you, too. Boomer the Persian has been there awhile, but please look him up as well.

Elvis resembled Marley of Marley and Me, so, while he was not mean at all, he may be rambunctious and inadvertently sit on you or something or get your bits tangled about his bits (which were pretty amazing, btw). Lucky can introduce you to him.

We will sorely miss you, Bruce.
Well, then

Bruce, Keep a lookout for Mr. Calvin Coolidge, according to Ms. Parker, y'all might have a lot in common.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Bon Voyage Bruce. As someone from whom too many loved ones have journeyed to where you reside now, I know you will be missed by your wintergreen family. Enjoy getting your 'nads back, but don't forget to treasure those little pieces of their hearts you have taken too.

I will miss Bruce very much, but surely not as much as you, Wintergreen, even though you took him to the vet who CUT HIS NUTS OFF. (Are we never going to hear that pithy phrase again? Sigh.)

His perspective on life was a breath of fresh air (even though it did sorta smell like cat breath). Take care, Wintergreen. Ave atque vale, Bruce.

What a great life you had, Bruce. You made so many people giggle and snicker and want to know you.

Have fun with your nuts. I hear they are helpful for doing stuff.

Dear Bruce.

Those hamsters you meet are probably those who used to live with Big J and I. You will have the pleasure of meeting Bijou, Rose, Munchie and Chewie and they are all very nice..well, Rose is very very shy and might not appear to be too friendly.

Hugs to wintergreen.

Why does everything happen while I'm away from the Bored?

Dang, winter... I don't know what to say. I'm really going to miss Bruce around here. What other four-footer here could ever replace his wit and sarcasm?
