Pitcher with the Brooklyn (and then briefly the Los Angeles) Dodgers in the 1940s and 50s. He was the last surviving member of the "Boys of Summer" saluted by Roger Kahn in his bestselling memoir about the Dodgers and one of the last surviving Brooklyn Dodgers.
