Please, from me, too.

I want to hear about the white, white, white sand, and how you watched "Caracas Hoy" on the hotel tv when you got up in the morning, and listening to four or five languages at once in the hotel bar.

Unless you didn't see any white sand or turn on the tv or go to a bar. Then I want to find out more about what you did (except for the "honeymoon" part of that, of course.)

Yeah, did you see Joran van der Sloot at Carlos'n Charlies?

I'm very bad at this stuff, but I'll do my best.

First off, we went there because that's where we went on our first honeymoon 15 years ago. We arrived on our anniversary day, stayed at the same place, and even got the same room number (but the hotel had been taken over by new management and redid the entire place- much more sophisticated now).

Temp- 89 and sunny the whole time, but the nice tradewinds kept you from feeling too hot.

We spent much time on the white sand beaches, usually set up no more than 100 feet away from the beach bar (at 11:00 in the morning, one gets very parched!) Lots of swimming and snorkling while my wife worked on her "show off tan" (as she put it).

Did a jeep tour (self-guided. We love to off-road there- some of Aruba's dirt trails are challenging even for Jeeps! We saw one guy get stuck going up a steep incline from the Natural Pool at a later time- never found out if he ever got up the hill or not!) to the lighthouse, a ruined goldmine, and the ruins of the Natural Bridge (since we had a photo of us on the bridge 15 years ago when it still stood). That night, we went to a restaurant in Savaneta called "The Flying Fishbone"- where they set up tables right on the beach, and you enjoy the sunset while your feet soak in the water. VERY nice, and the end of the night, the waiters came over unexpectedly and gave us a nicely decorated plate with a sparkler and the words "Happy 15th Anniversary" on it. Sax player came over, and played our song ("You're the Inspiration"). We had told them it was our anniversary, but didn't know they'd do this.

A couple of days later, we did parasailing, and then horseback riding to the Natural Pool (only my second time on a horse- can't believe the trails and cliffs these horses can navigate!) which was a lot of fun!

Rest of the time was spent on the beach, shopping in town, or eating and drinking (no- never saw van der Sloot). Won about $50 in the casino (high rollers, we two!) and took in a couple of really bad hotel shows (Why not? It was part of the package!)

TV showed almost all American channels, so no Caracus Hoy! But listening to all the different languages was fun!

All in all, a much-needed rest. We love the contrast of desert island and ocean, and so will probably be back again in the future!
