$355 Million
That's what Judge Engoron ruled that Trump must pay in his civil fraud trial. Trump, Jr. and Eric must pay $4 million each. Trump has also been barred from doing business in New York for three years. He did vacate the earlier finding that would have dissolved the Trump businesses certificates in New York.

The judge, like you, probably thinks Biden is competent.
At any rate, that "judgment" will never stand.

Here’s Judge Engeron’s opinion. Please point to the parts of his decision that you contend constitute reversible error and explain why they’re wrong. Because that’s what Donny’s lawyers are going to have to do. —Bob

Re: $355 Million
Judge Engoron's ruling added prejudgment interest to that principal amount. So the current debt is actually a little more than $450 million. --Bobsilverscreenselect wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:20 pmThat's what Judge Engoron ruled that Trump must pay in his civil fraud trial. Re: $355 Million
I'll also note that, like the E. Jean Carroll case, this is a civil judgment against Trump, so he'll have to either post a bond or put up equivalent securities as collateral to pursue an appeal. And any bonding company would also want him to put up collateral. (He couldn't find a bonding company to post bond on the first $5 million Carroll judgment). The ruling includes summaries of the testimony of every witness and the degree, if any, to which the judge credited that testimony. The judge spent four pages reviewing Trump's testimony and concluded: "Overall, Donald Trump rarely responded to the questions asked, and he frequently interjected long, irrelevant speeches on issues far beyond the scope of the trial. His refusal to answer the questions directly or, in some cases at all, severely compromised his credibility."
Bob's link was behind a paywall, but here's a link anyone can access: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald ... rcna135283
Summary of the judgment:
-- Judgment against Trump and his companies for $354.9 million plus interest. Most of that represents what's called "disgorgement," which means recovering profits fraudulently obtained in specific transactions.
--Judgment against Trump,Jr. and Eric for $4 million each plus interest.
--Judgment against Alan Weisselberg (Trump's former CFO) for $1 million plus interest.
--Trump, Weisselberg & Jeffrey McConney (Trump's former corporate controller) are barred from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other entity for three years
-- Weisselberg and McConney are barred for life from serving in the financial control function of any business licensed in New York
-- Trump and his business entities are barred for three years from applying for loans from any financial institution licensed in New York
-- Trump Jr. and Eric are barred for two years from serving as an officer of director of any New York business
--The order entered in September that called for the dissolution of the Trump business entities is vacated without prejudice to renew based on the recommendations of the Independent Monitor, who will continue for at least three years
--An Independent Director of Compliance will be installed at the Trump Organization.
As Bob noted, the amount of the judgment against Trump is now about $450 million, including interest. It also continues to accrue interest under the New York statutory rate of 9% until satisfied. So, based on $450 million, that comes to $40.5 million a year or almost $111,000 a day.

Thank you for your never-ending concern for me. No. My head didn't explode. I see it for what it is. Worse comes to worse, Trump will actually have to accept his presidential salary this time. Just don't party too much. What goes around will come around.

Re: $355 Million
Someone has started a GoFundMe page to raise $355 million for Trump. Even if they succeed, as Bob noted, they would be about $100 million short. So far, 1,200 people have donated $44,500 so they're still a little short, but, of course, Trump hasn't promoted the page on Truth Social yet. I'm posting a link for the benefit of Flock and other Bored members who may want to show their support. Sadly, there's a $2,500 maximum donation per person. Flock may want to dip into those retirements funds that he hasn't already given to Trump's defense fund or True the Vote for this worthy cause.

So you have FDS too? I am honored that on this little platform, I am given the same treatment that Trump is going through on a national level. I have even been threatened with lawfare by our above-average lawyer. Most of my posts are taken out of context, or one little point is lambasted rather than the main point, and I am accused of things that are made up out of thin air. When you don't have an answer for one of my points, you can just ignore it and go back to calling me a moron, or any one of the things on my signature. You don't have to worry about complex thinking on any issue.

Here's a better way for Flock to show Trump love, help him in his financial straits, and look good too:

Trump is here today, promoting his new kicks at Sneaker Con (the real name of the event).
You should buy a pair, Flock. They're so much sharper than a wristband.

Who is supposed to get the $355 million? No bank or insurance company lost any money. So where does it go?

Re: $355 Million
The action was brought in the name of the people of the State of New York. Unless the legislature passes some special law that would provide differently for this particular judgment, the money is deposited into the state treasury. And contrary to what you continue to say, lost profits are a recognizable element of damages. Judge Engoron's judgment was tied to the profits that Trump and his companies made as a result of the frauds they perpetrated.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 10:34 pmCan somebody answer this question from Elon Musk? Yeah, that is what I thought.money is deposited into the state treasury
Great new idea for a failing state to shore up their revenue. New York is losing population and tax base, and the importation of illegals is costing them money instead of generating revenue. And it will probably continue at an increasing rate now. With this precedent, what prudent business would want to be based in a state that would do this? Who would take the risk?
There will be an accounting for James and Engoron, and it will affect the State of New York. TDS will be costly for some. These people don't think about or worry about the unintended consequences of their TDS.
Don't worry about Trump.

Re: $355 Million
Actually, allowing some companies to get away with fraud forces law-abiding businesses to pay more for loans and insurance, and diminishes New York's standing as the world financial capital. (Other centres like London, Hong Kong and Dubai must also be conscious of their reputation for honesty.)flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 9:31 amYeah, that is what I thought.money is deposited into the state treasury

https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/16/politics ... index.htmlCNN 2/16/24 wrote:Civil lawsuits seeking to hold Donald Trump accountable for the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack can move forward after the former president declined to ask the Supreme Court to decide whether he is shielded by presidential immunity. A federal appeals court in December cleared the way for three lawsuits brought against Trump by Democratic lawmakers and US Capitol Police officers to proceed, unanimously holding that not everything a president does or says while in office is protected from liability. Trump faced a Thursday deadline to seek the Supreme Court’s review of that decision, but his legal team declined to turn to the high court.
The decision means the lawsuits will move to a fact-finding phase at the trial-level federal court in Washington, DC. Trump can continue to claim presidential immunity before that court, but it will be up to the judge overseeing the case to determine whether the conduct at issue was done in Trump’s official capacity as president or as a candidate and therefore not shielded by presidential immunity. The case could still eventually come before the Supreme Court.
In the civil immunity matter, the plaintiffs in the three underlying lawsuits have all seized on Trump’s speech on January 6, alleging that his words led to the subsequent attack on the Capitol. The lawmakers claimed in a pair of lawsuits that they were threatened by Trump and others as part of a conspiracy to stop the congressional session that would certify the 2020 presidential election. They argue Trump should bear responsibility for directing the assaults.
The police officers said in their suit that they were hit by chemical sprays and objects attendees threw at them because Trump inspired the crowd. Lower courts sided with the plaintiffs as Trump sought to have the cases dismissed based on his claims of presidential immunity. A federal judge in DC ruled in 2022 that Trump’s statements to his supporters before the riot “is the essence of civil conspiracy” because Trump spoke about himself and rallygoers working “towards a common goal” of fighting and walking down Pennsylvania Avenue. The DC Circuit later upheld that ruling, saying in December that the president “does not spend every minute of every day exercising official responsibilities. And when he acts outside the functions of his office, he does not continue to enjoy immunity. … When he acts in an unofficial, private capacity, he is subject to civil suits like any private citizen,” the court said in the unanimous ruling authored by Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan.
