Last night we went out for supper at Interlachen Inn in Alexandria. I love chowders and Friday night is their chowder night.
Anyway, they were jammed with reservations and we sat at the bar.
One of our favorite family movies is The Great Outdoors with Dan Akroyd and John Candy. Akroyd plays the annoying conman brother-in-law who knows everything and has expensive tastes and jumps on Candy for wanting hotdogs on the grill instead of lobster tails-etc etc.
We watch the movie about once a year.
Anyway, a guy sits down next to me and I had him pegged as "Dan Akroyd-Great Outdoors" right away. He knew everybody and everything.
At one point, a couple that he knew came in and sat at the bar rather than wait for a table.
I just about laughed out loud when the couple ordered Windsor 7's and "Dan Akroyd" said something like-"You come to my place, I will get you drinking more sophisticated drinks." That easily could have been a line for Great Outdoors.
I had a hard time leaving because I was having so much fun listening to a movie come to life.

Great story, Spock!
A few years ago I was walking by Franklin Field, where Bruce Willis played a security guard in Unbreakable, and I saw a guy in a poncho like this:

At least the character wasn't Beetlejuice. After this past weekend, I hear that Beetlejuice will be a shoo-in at next year's Tony Awards for "Best Handjob at a Musical".
