Lyrically Speaking - 1/27/23

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:33 am

You know it, you can't stand it! It's that LSWE tradition known as the short snippets game! Below you've find twenty very small lyrical samples from what should be reasonably well known songs. How small? No more than four words long! While I didn't do any digging to verify uniqueness this time around, I can be reasonably certain these short samples don't appear in any other song of renown. And if they do..... well, that's just another song you can get credit for!

Good luck, and remember you have all weekend (though not until late Monday morning!)....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. Slow motion weekdays

2. Rearranged the sky

3. Your laundry cleaned

4. The new constitution

5. Lion in my pocket

6. Mucho mistrust

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains a likely unique short lyrical snippet (no more than four words), and list the snippet for three total points.

1. Slow motion weekdays
Freeze Frame - J Geils Band (Without my old lyrics site that allowed me to easily scan songs quickly looking for unique phrases, for creating much of this game, I resorted to going through old LSWE games.... and it's amazing how many times I came across this song. Kind of an unsung "One NIght in Bangkok"....)

2. Rearranged the sky
It's Raining Men - Weather Squ... er, Girls

3. Your laundry cleaned
Break My Stride - Matthew Wilder (The rare 80's anthem that did not have an official music video....)

4. The new constitution
Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who

5. Lion in my pocket
1999 - Prince (A song written about a time that was 17 years in the future, which is now 24 years in the past. Yikes!)

6. Mucho mistrust
Heart of Glass - Blondie

7. Yardstick for lunatics
Incense and Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock (This is your song on LSD. Any questions?)

8. Those old raindrops
Ride Captain Ride - Blues Image

9. Ol' green teeth
Uneasy Rider - Charlie Daniels Band ("Long haired hippie type pinko fags" was too long for this game....)

10. Thirty-seven thousand feet
Rockstar - Nickelback (I do not miss the days when this and that goddamn Peanut Butter and Jelly song were played at some point every effing night at Mecca...)

11. The radical priest
Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard - Paul Simon

12. Nicely making way
Southern Cross - Crosby, Stills and Nash (The Southern Cross don't need Young around anyhow...)

13. Above the waistline
One Night in Bangkok - Murray Head (I had a game made up of all LSWE classics, but I'd already started to break it up to use the songs in other games, so I figured I better throw this in before I forget and ruin my streak...)

14. Look over yonder
Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James & the Shondells

15. Old gold Chevy
Crocodile Rock - Elton John

16. Other people's taxes
Take the Money and Run - Steve Miller Band

17. Jaws of the alien
Thriller - Michael Jackson

18. My lipstick case
Hit Me With Your Best Shot - Pat Benatar

19. The last splash
Cannonball - Breeders

20. Fuck the Big Mac
It Takes Two - DJ EZ Rock and Rob Base (A current Mecca earworm. I always patiently wait for this verse to hear the beloved BLEEP....)

I decided to play hardball here with those who didn't follow the directions. Those who didn't list which snippet they were using got IB credit, but no JJC points for it. Those who used an image of one of the song titles did not get IB credit at all. As The Real Todd Rundgren used to famously say...... Read the friggin rules!!!

Now, onto business as usual. Since there wasn't any one image that stood out from the rest, I decided to award the IBB to Weasel, who hasn't won the bonus yet this year despite putting a lot of work into finding funny shit every game. Besides, how often do you get to see airplane porn?

JJC Points:

Panic gets a JJC point for double jaws of the alien...

Weasel gets 3 JJC points for the missionary flight and the sad news about Pat...

Krox gets 2 JJC points for a slimier version of the alien...

frank gets a supermax for Creepy King flipping off Mickey Dee's...

Beebs gets a supermax for completing her assignment this time. Something about the Jimi Hendrix answer cracked me up...

Sprots gets 3 JJC points for Kroxing the only short snippet I ever used in one of these games that was verified as NOT being unique, and for coming up with a better cat image than Earl did...

mrk gets 2 JJC points for a very disturbing image...

Vandal gets 3 JJC points for Billy Bored Thornton's dental X-rays...

Earl gets 3 JJC points for loving the short snippet game, clutching the mantilla, having something to do after playing, and for clapclapclapclapclap (Yeah, that's four things, but you can't earn 4 JJC points. It's impossible)....

Points:

Panic 24+1
Weasel 36+3+5
jarnon 10
Krox 24+2
ear 20
frank 28+5
Beebs 5+5
Sprots 12+3
mrk 37+2
Hottie 20
Vandal 24+3

Can I get an explanation for not gettng any image bonus?
What rule did I not follow?
Take any one of the twenty SHORT SNIPPETS above and show me an image that represents it.
Check
Also, please tell me which one you are using.
Check
Those who didn't list which snippet they were using got IB credit, but no JJC points for it
I listed the snippet.
Those who used an image of one of the song titles did not get IB credit at all.
I don't believe Biden/Harris 2024 as one of the snippets, and if so, was not the one I chose.

And I though it quite humorous. And it could be interpreted two ways, depending on your point of view and ability to appreciate humor.

Your image was based on one of the song titles, which you even listed ("#4 - Won't Get Fooled Again") The directions were to proved an image based on one of the snippets (In the case of the song you listed, that would be "The new constitution").

Don't feel bad... my hard-assedness came from the fact that so many people messed up the same thing you did just about every year I've run this type of game, and I know it's been a while since you played as a regular.

And as far as political humor in the LSWE goes, it's more likely I'm not going to get something than be offended by it. I really, REALLY go out of my way to stay "uninformed" (part of the reason I disappeared for a while last year).....

Ahhhh! Thanks for the explanation.

Glad you didn't write the questions for the SAT, though I do suspect you did help with some of the Texas Exam for CPAs. ;)
