Lyrically Speaking - 1/18/23
Here's a themed game with no theme points. Why? Because it's too easy and a riff on a theme I did in a number of early LSWE contests. If you get at least three of these and can't figure out what's going on...... well, you must be pretty whack.
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....
1. My folks were always putting him down (down, down)
They said he came from the wrong side of town
2. Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up for the touch of the younger kind
3. Now baby, listen baby, don't ya treat me this way
'Cause I'll be back on my feet some day
4. Gonna make a move that knocks you over
Watch this turn one's gonna put you away
But I'm doing my very best dancing
Every time you're looking the other way
5. Strollin' in the park, watching winter turn to spring
Walkin' in the dark, seein' lovers do their thing, ooh
6. Theres this cute little girlie, shes a'workin there
A black leotard and her feet are bare
7. But as the sun goes down, I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here
8. Can you feel the fire pumping through your veins?
You try to get up and here it comes again
9. What can I do
'Cause I-I-I-I-I
I'm feelin' blue
10. (You lied to me) 'cos she said she'd never turn on me
(You lied to me) but you did, but you do
(You lied to me) all these pains you said I'd never feel
(You lied to me) but I do, but I do, do, do
11. I hope she's doing alright
I got no way to know
Unless she gets to hear this song
Hear it on the radio
12. You just put on your coat and hat
And walk yourself to the laundromat
And when you finish doin' that
Bring in the dog and put out the cat
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that would fit the theme of today's game. (A bonus point if you can come up with a theme element I don't have in this game)
Image Bonus: Give me an image that would fit the theme...

Here's a themed game with no theme points. Why? Because it's too easy and a riff on a theme I did in a number of early LSWE contests. If you get at least three of these and can't figure out what's going on...... well, you must be pretty whack.
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....
Dammit to hell, I was checking another tab to see how YOUR DENVER NUGGETS!!!!1 were doing (not very well) and somehow my page refreshed and I lost everything I'd changed from the quoted post. No extraneous nonsense from me tonight!
1. My folks were always putting him down (down, down)
They said he came from the wrong side of town
Leader of the Pack - Shangri Las
2. Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up for the touch of the younger kind
My Sharona - The Knack
3. Now baby, listen baby, don't ya treat me this way
'Cause I'll be back on my feet some day
Hit the Road Jack
4. Gonna make a move that knocks you over
Watch this turn one's gonna put you away
But I'm doing my very best dancing
Every time you're looking the other way
5. Strollin' in the park, watching winter turn to spring
Walkin' in the dark, seein' lovers do their thing, ooh
Feel Like Making Love - Roberta Flack
6. Theres this cute little girlie, shes a'workin there
A black leotard and her feet are bare
Sugar Shack - Jimmy Gilmer
7. But as the sun goes down, I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here
Baby Come Back - Player
8. Can you feel the fire pumping through your veins?
You try to get up and here it comes again
9. What can I do
'Cause I-I-I-I-I
I'm feelin' blue
Black is Black - Los Bravos
10. (You lied to me) 'cos she said she'd never turn on me
(You lied to me) but you did, but you do
(You lied to me) all these pains you said I'd never feel
(You lied to me) but I do, but I do, do, do
11. I hope she's doing alright
I got no way to know
Unless she gets to hear this song
Hear it on the radio
My Squirrel - Chilliwack
I might not get any JJP, but I got the Annie bonus!
12. You just put on your coat and hat
And walk yourself to the laundromat
And when you finish doin' that
Bring in the dog and put out the cat
Yakkity Yak - Coasters
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that would fit the theme of today's game. (A bonus point if you can come up with a theme element I don't have in this game)
Click Clack - RuPaul
Yes, it's a real song, available on iTunes! (that's a joke that only RPDR fans will get. As you didn't realize that the bingo queens were men, I doubt that you're among this group
Image Bonus: Give me an image that would fit the theme...

Return Of The Mack - Mark Morrison (Shutout #2. I first heard this song played on a 90's weekend on my radio station about three years ago. Since then, it has been literally unavoidable.... especially on Mecca Radio. The song is from 1998, which further vexes me as I SHOULD have remembered the song had it come out that year. Apparently, nobody else had ever heard it before either!)

While most everyone noticed all of the -ACK words in title and artist, fewer realized the -ACKs were all supposed to END the title or artist. I still gave credit for Kroxes that had a valid word anywhere, but they were not eligible for the extra point for a -ACK combo not in the game...
Image Bonus: Give me an image that would fit the theme...
This was a very hard one to decide validity on, let alone pick a winner. I wound up accepting them all, even BiT's (which I think was an accident) and Sprots' (which is completely illegible). My gut said Krox's Bill the Cat should win, but Vandal's was about as true to the theme as any.... plus, he'd make for my 8th different IBB winner in eight games. So Vandal it is! I enjoy sharing the love...

JJC Points:
BiT gets 2 JJC points for Darius Rucker (I know which song you're thinking of, and oddly enough, Darius is a much better country musician than he ever was a rocker) and getting bailed out by JACK Lemmon...
Weasel gets 2 JJC points for the Muppets and Fred G. Sanford...
mrk gets a supermax because I knew he knew the theme, but had no clue what a big honkin' picture of B.B. King had to do with it. Then this morning when I went to grade the rest of the answers, Beebs' was first in line and my peripheral vision picked up on a huge DUH! moment for me. Well played!
Krox gets a supermax for hairballs...
frank gets 3 JJC points for a word my Mom turned into a verb anytime my Dad fixed something around the house. ("The toilet isn't working, but your father's supposed to buttcrack it when he gets home from work"...)
Beebs gets a supermax for Beebs (Couldn't Ed make a guitar out of some of his victims?)
ear gets 2 JJC points for the reminder of BB's gone by...
Sprots, in her constant effort to annoy me, gets 2 JJC points for what has to be the smallest Image Bonus ever posted. Even Google couldn't see it! Feel free to enlighten me on what that is and how it pertains to the theme...
melly gets 2 JJC points for a cereal box that is desperately in need of a frog...
Vandal gets 3 JJC points for Martian memes...
Earl gets 3 JJC points for allowing HER DENVER NUGGETS!!!11 to sabotage her post, and for somehow making coffee more disgusting than it already is...

Early in Darius' country career he played the Houston Livestock Show. We were there (my daughter was in some VIP seats as one of our friends was a college buddy of Darius). Anyway, he played just his country songs and the crowd (not always a rodeo crowd) kept chanting "Hootie! We want Hootie!". I felt a little bad for him. He did end up playing a couple of Hootie songs. I'm glad he's fully made the transition. I do like his county music alot. And baby, I know you got your radio on
So this is my my bad, come back song

Some days I really struggle with kroxes and images, but I was barely through the first 5 of the songs when I immediately knew what both my krox and my image had to be. Thanks for figuring it out. It's fun coming up with ways to try to stump you.

But seriously, I didn't realize how small it was. It wasn't nearly that small on the page I got it from. Usually they're much larger. I just posted it and left.
