Just a question. I know Astros did shit. But Yankees and Red Sox did, too during same time frame. Why is there so much continued animus towards Houston? Read the whole article

"The letter's contents, above all, confirm the long-held suspicions of many players that cheating predated – and was far more prevalent than – the Astros' 2017 scheme. Since then, current and former Astros players have endured the brunt of fan and media criticism.

Red Sox starter Chris Sale was among a chorus of players who noted earlier this month that stripping the 2017 Astros of their title was folly, given the widespread use of electronics over the last decade.

"If the Astros were the only team doing it, then yeah, take it back," Sale said. "I know for a fact they weren't. All these people pointing fingers: Well, hey, take a check in the mirror real quick. Make sure that you and your team weren't doing something."

"Manfred wrote that during 2015 and the first half of 2016, a member of the Yankees used the replay room at Yankee Stadium to relay sign information to the dugout, who would then send the signs to runners on second base. Those runners would then signal to the batter what pitch was coming. If the Yankees were on the road at certain stadiums where the video room was not close to the dugout, they would use the phone to call the dugout to pass the information forward.

The use of a phone during certain road games is the violation for which the Yankees were fined $100,000, the letter details, since it was giving the Yankees "real-time information regarding signs to the dugout." SNY's report reiterates that back in 2017, Manfred said in a statement that it was New York's use of a phone that was the cause for the violation because it "technically cannot be used for such a communication."

But not this?
MLB's 2017 investigation into the Red Sox using Apple watches in their dugout to relay opposing signs. The team was fined an unspecified amount for that violation
Or the fact that the Yankees were fined $100,000 for expicitly breaking rules.

I'm not excusing the Astros. They cheated. Got caught. Took their punishment. Just addressing Beeb's questions. Only 3 position players and 2 pitchers from that team remain on the team this year.

The real answer to the question is that the Astros have owned the Yankees for the past 6 years, including the sweep of them in the ALCS this year. Go Astros!

Patriots fans have been living with this type of thing since the so called Spygate in 2007 and later with the so called Deflategate in 2014. The Pats play Chicago tonight on MNF and this kind of tweet still pops up:

From Marc Carman, a Chicago radio host:
#Bears DL Justin Jones plans on checking the balls Monday night. Has heard that Deflategate might still be going on. First thing you think of when you hear the name Bill Belichick? “Deflated balls” #ForeverNE #Forevercheaters

Forever is a long time. Get used to it.

From my EFB page:

One of my favorite people in baseball is Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker.

He's changed the culture in the Astros' clubhouse. He has been at the forefront of treating women in sports media with respect - leading by example for years. He is a splendid human being.

His Astros are playing my Phillies - the team of my heart from my first game in 1956. Before that, even.

The Phillies are the team of my heart - saw my first game at age 3 1/2. I earned my college tuition as the "best friend" of one of the mascots.

This is one of my favorite Phillies teams ever. I cannot root against them. The kids in the Day Care. The joy they have playing - ever since Girardi was fired.

So, as much as I would like to see Dusty win a World Series ... I can't root for him this year. That distresses me. Against any other opponent .....

I think we all know who that is. :)

But may the team that plays the best win (e.g. no controversy on calls, no player injuries, no fan inerference, etc.)

Hear hear. And may the officiating be consistently weird for all.

I hope they're gonna test all of the players for ringworm!
