Out of curiosity, why are we dropping the artists on the songs? I don't see where Frank said they wouldn't be used, and unless my observation is completely off, I suspect they will be important!

Adding the artists back in (I suspect they factor into at least one part of the SONG/SONG/MOVIE match) and updating the consolidation so I can get a better look at what we have....

Game #209: Movie Music

Identify the 75 songs in List A and the 75 movies in List B. (Every other movie clue is a quotation.) Then, form 50 triples according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

All 50 triples are structured the same way, but half of them use one song and two movies, while the other half use one movie and two songs. No answer will be used twice

LIST A: SONGS

Shake it 'til the moon becomes the sun.
PON DE REPLAY - RHIANNA

A-12. OUT IN THE COUNTRY - THREE DOG NIGHT

So, embedded in the movie titles I see....

B-11. Too Hot (Kool and the Gang)
B-13. Brave (Sara Bareilles)
B-14. Yesterday (Beatles)
B-17. Dreams (Fleetwood Mac)
B-19. Fat (Weird Al)
B-20. Monkey (George Michael)
B-29. Goldeneye (Tina Turner) - Maybe the space invalidates this one?
B-33. Kiss (Prince)
B-37. Taxi (Harry Chapin)
B-44. My Way (Frank Sinatra)
B-53. September (Earth Wind & Fire)
B-55. Baby (Justin Bieber)
B-59. Woman (John Lennon)
B-61. Hello (Adele)
B-62. Stand (REM)

And a handful of other titles (Passion, South Street, Always...) we don't have matching artists for yet.

There's some obvious movies in the song titles as well, but I'll defer to experts there....

Two artists I was looking for....

A-19 is Inside and Out by the Bee Gees, who would go with B-38 Night Fever

A-73 is Love me Tonight by Tom Jones, who would go with B-25 Delilah

Roy Orbison has to go with B-73 Crying. His song in the game is Running Scared, which is one of the songs that's also the name of a movie.... but I got nowhere with that.

I've been looking into whether removing the song titles within the movie titles might yield a third title to match with something else, but no luck there either.

The song titles in the movie titles are much stronger than the reverse, and I'm trying to take that into account with the fact that the matches in this game work both ways, half needing two songs and half needing two movies....

Cleaning things up a little, as I see even I forgot to remove the joke answer I introduced into this game. I'm also removing the lyrics for all answered song, and using "MANY ARTISTS" for songs that don't really have a definitive version, and aren't likely to be used for their artist...

Game #209: Movie Music

Identify the 75 songs in List A and the 75 movies in List B. (Every other movie clue is a quotation.) Then, form 50 triples according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

I think B-75 is Dr. Zhivago. I don't think Frank meant these were actual characters in the film, but rather refers to characters from other movies played by those actors. Ralph Richardson played God, Rod Steiger played Capone, Alec Guinness played Hitler, Julie Christie played Gertrude, and Siobhan McKenna was Mary in King of Kings.

B-64 is EASY RIDER.

In the partial matches with movie names embedded in song titles, the link may be the director.

A-3 The Deep (Peter Yates, ?)
A-5. Sunshine (Danny Boyle, B-54. Steve Jobs)
A-6. Summertime (David Lean, B-75. Dr. Zhivago)
A-7. Frequency (Gregory Hoblit, ?)
A-13. Chicago (Rob Marshall, ?)
A-15. Armageddon (Michael Bay, ?)
A-16. Bananas (Woody Allen, B-12. Take the Money and Run)
A-18. Honky Tonk (Jack Conway, B-11. Too Hot to Handle)
A-22. Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock, B-68. The Man Who Knew Too Much)
A-23. Ray (Taylor Hackford, B-56. An Officer and a Gentleman)
A-32. Rocky (John G. Avildsen, ?)
A-39. Wolf (Mike Nichols, ?)
A-53. Nashville (Robert Altman, ?)
A-63. Beethoven (Brian Levant, ?)
A-72. Big (Penny Marshall, ?)
A-75. Help (Richard Lester, B-30. A Hard Day's Night)
A-79. Glory (Edward Zwick, ?)

Even when I look up directors, there are plenty of holes. I'm not sure there are enough partial matches to solve the game.

I think it's actors, not directors.

A-31 LOVE LETTERS in the sand + A-44 Ed Sheeran (Perfect) = B-6 A Fish Called Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis

B-47 RIO Bravo + B20 Cary Grant (Notorious) = A-74 Duran Duran

Still don't think it's quite right.

So we can find lots of doubles, but hardly any triples, right?

What is the doubles hook up somehow to become triples?

B-24 A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood goes with A-33 U2 (Beautiful Day) and Tom Hanks A-72 (Big)

B-47 Rio Bravo goes with A-74 Duran Duran and John Wayne A-29 (The Cowboys)

B-18 Crazy Stupid Love goes with A-71 Patsy Cline and Ryan Gosling A-34 (Drive)

B-25 Samson and Delilah goes with A-73 Tom Jones and A-30 Hedy LaMarr (Ecstasy)

What about the ones with two movies? That would start with a song, I guess, so...

A-15 ARMAGEDDON it (Def Leppard) goes with B-36 Bruce Willis and B-22 ANIMAL House

A-41 The Name of THE GAME (Abba) goes with B-10 Wall Street and B-65 WATERLOO Bridge

A-62 Let THE RIVER Run (Carly Simon) goes with B-15 The Passion of the Christ and B-67 JESSE James

I'll put this poorly, but:

If a triple has one song and two movies, the title of the song refers to a movie starred in by an actor in one of the movies on the list; and the artist sings a song that has a one word title that comes from another movie on the list.

If a triple has one movie and two songs, the title refers to a song by one of the artists on the list, and a star of the movie also starred in a movie whose title comes from a different song on the list.

I think I've got the essence of it, but I may be missing some important pieces that make it easier to find matches. And I'm sure someone can sum up the Tangredi better than I did.

All of your suggested triples are correct. Well done!

Since you've got it, I can tell you it might be easier for you to keep track if you put the linking movie or song in the middle, like this:

A-72. BIG Pimpin’ (Tom Hanks) + B-24. A BEAUTIFUL DAY in the Neighborhood (U2) + A-33. With or Without You
