No, science does not adjust for political correctness. It adjusts to new findings and data. That's what science is. Drapetomania was cited before the Civil War as a disorder to explain why slaves would want to be free and not remain happily in bondage. That term was still included in medical dictionaries as late as 1914. It wasn't until the 1950's that the American Psychiatric Association dropped the term "female hysteria" which had the symptoms of a normally functioning female reproductive system. The APA did not remove homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses until 1973. These are examples of science catching up to the data, not a caving in to societal norms.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 7:13 pm
Gender has apparently been defined by a consensus of psychiatric 'experts' as fluid. But that was only fairly recently. Until 2013 they described it as a disfunction called gender dysphoria disorder. If you count psychiatry as a 'pure' science, I guess science can be adjusted for political correctness. Regardless of what surgeries or drugs a person of one sex does to try and change their GENDER, they will ALWAYS remain the SEX they were born as. That's science, like it or not.
You know, bob, you and your comrades have NO PROBLEM accusing and believing that anyone you consider to be your opponents can concoct and execute amazingly complex schemes to advance their evil intents, and they can get gullible people like me to swallow it. But have you ever considered it's actually YOUR side doing it? Or do you believe the crowd that is shown in the video to be no more than 5000 people, as all your favorite news sources have dutifully reported?Bob78164 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 1:28 pmUnlike you, I know the name of Georgia's Secretary of State. You have no idea about what you are talking about, sir. I suggest you stay in your own state's affairs.
And there's no room for ambiguity here. Contrary to what you claimed, Perdue explicitly said that his election was stolen as well as Donny's. What actually happened, of course, is that Senator Ossoff simply garnered more votes in Georgia (as did President Biden), so he won fair and square. But (like most Republicans) you're unwilling to admit that you were wrong so now you're doubling down.
The system worked the way it was supposed to, up to a point. Whoever gets the most votes is declared the winner. Thanks to Governor Kemp and Secretary of State Raffensperger, that part went as it was supposed to. The other candidates are then supposed to respect the will of the voters. That's not happening.
The Republican Party deserves to be electorally bulldozed because (as you are vividly illustrating) too many of its members are no longer willing to accept that any result other than their own victory can possibly be legitimate. That attitude is profoundly destructive to democracy. So on this issue, there is no such thing as staying in your own state's affairs. A willingness to ignore the will of the people when choosing candidates supervising federal elections affects all of us. And I will continue to put my money where my mouth is.
Thanks for motivating me to prioritize Georgia over some other potential races. --Bob
Well, bob, that is still up for debate, regardless of how strongly the MSM that is controlled by your political party demonizes those who even have a question about it.And there's no room for ambiguity here. Sixty court cases, some of which resulted in sanctions against Donny’s lawyers for bringing frivolous arguments, and some of which were thrown out of court by judges Donny himself appointed, say that it’s not still up for debate.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 10:58 amWell, bob, that is still up for debate, regardless of how strongly the MSM that is controlled by your political party demonizes those who even have a question about it.And there's no room for ambiguity here. True-The-Vote, for one, has gathered very compelling evidence of ballot harvesting, which is illegal in Georgia, if not in CA, that was used to influence the outcome of that election. How much effect it ultimately had remains to be seen, if it will ever be allowed to be found otu.
I would post the link, but I know you wont bother to read it.
I don't think Bobbo knows the meaning of 'explicit.' At the very least, he's guilty of misusing it, so I wouldn't lose much equanimity over his claims.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 10:58 amWell, bob, that is still up for debate, regardless of how strongly the MSM that is controlled by your political party demonizes those who even have a question about it.And there's no room for ambiguity here. How is MIlo's brain different than, say, Shirley Mason's who's brain told her, and anybody that would listen, she was someone else, many someone elses? Or how about John Nash who's brain told him all men wearing red ties were part of a conspiracy against him. The fact that someone's brain is "telling" them something that is not true, does not make it true.kroxquo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 6:20 amNo, science does not adjust for political correctness. As to your second point, I have a trans student in my high school freshman civics class. They have said much the same thing - there is a difference between sex and gender. Sex has to do with the biology of the reproductive system. Where they differ from you, is that Milo, who was born biologically a girl, is hard-wired in their brain to be a boy. They cannot help that their brain is telling them what gender they are any more than they can help how they were born biologically.
Among the "favorite news sources" who dutifully reported on the small size of the crowd was Erick Erickson, a conservative talk show host on WSB Radio here in Atlanta. Erick Erickson wrote:The Trump turnout on a Saturday in Georgia was anemic. That does not bode well for his slate of candidates. Not all the people there were from Georgia or even able to vote. And Perdue and the other candidates had to foot the bill. Oof.
Someone's brain telling them they're unhappy, or in pain, generally does make it true. And since laws are usually intended to address social issues, not scientific issues (albeit the solution to social issues is sometimes informed by scientific analysis), there is no reason for the law to insist on prolonging that pain. --BobBackInTex wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:14 pmHow is MIlo's brain different than, say, Shirley Mason's who's brain told her, and anybody that would listen, she was someone else, many someone elses? Right. That's why anyone suffering from 'alien hand syndrome' can walk into any doctor's office and get the offending appendage lopped off. I guess Bob supports all the homeless with mental health issues to remain on the street. Just let them live out their issues without getting them help. You would say exactly the same thing about people in same-sex relationships because in your view such relationships are aberrant.BackInTex wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:51 pmI guess Bob supports all the homeless with mental health issues to remain on the street. You know: How dare you. You, again, have no idea what you are talking about. You showcase your own bigotry to even be able to say something like that. That's the main reason people of your ilk can't be reasoned with or even talked to. You are completely bigotted and you don't realize it. Shove that statement up your ass. My comment was directed to BiT.
