I Will Probably Never Read Them and

curse my (OCD)completist nature but I found a couple of odd books on Geomorphology at a used and rare book store in the Twin Cities.

As I said, I probably won't read them, but they will be fun to page through.

1) "Desert and River in Nubia: Geomorphology and Prehistoric Environments at the Aswan Reservoir"-1968

I do have a thing for the Aswan area.

2) "The History of The Study of Landforms or the Development of Geomorphology: Volume 2-The Life and Work of William Morris Davis (1850-1934)"

Of course, now I have to find the other 2 volumes in the series (they are available at Amazon)

My 2 favorite classes at Spock College V2 were Geomorphology and Biogeography-they were both Master's level classes.

I still drool a little bit every time I drive by a gravel pit and think about how much fun it would have been to build an academic career studying gravel pits-LOL.

I will give you my #1 recommendation (Tanstaafl also loves the book)-however it is a 2-part recommendation

1) "Quartered Safe Out Here"-George MacDonald Fraser's (Flashman author) memoir of the war in Burma.

THEN read

#2) Fraser's "Private McAuslan Stories"-

This (3-part) collection of humorous short stories is my absolute favorite "Book" in the world and I want somebody to read it so I can talk to them about it.

Yeah, I am not expecting many takers on the Geomorphology books.

BTW-Mrs Spock and the Spocklette will be visiting Savannah -mid-May.

A book that I have recommended to men that don't read much (and has been well-received) is "Shadow Divers" by Robert Kurson. True story-divers find sunk U-Boat off New Jersey coast and race to id it with several deaths occurring due to dangerous diving conditions.

I guess I can claim credit for it. Hard to believe it was that many years ago.

I see Melly mentioned "My Antonia"-I don't read many novels-but I keep thinking I should tackle that one.

The Spocklette doesn't have any roommates this semester-one is home with an injury and one is at an internship and she is kind of bored so we while poking around the attic today I found the long version of "The Stand" and I sent that with her.

She has never read any King or horror-but I figure this is not real scary to read in an apartment by herself.
