I think the Biden Administration
has handled this very well so far.
I haven't really heard any convincing assertions about things that they've done that they shouldn't have or haven't done that they should have.
Makes me all the more thankful that Trump is not president.
Sure am glad that they were smart enough to figure out how to steal the election.

Re: I think the Biden Administration
You come to this thread to jump my ass about being pissed that your thread was hijacked? And call me out in particular ... no one else (that I've seen at least)? Good grief. I commented maybe 5-6 times at most in that thread of 109 posts, and am pretty sure that they were all pretty innocuous, mostly pointing out maybe a flaw or inconsistency in other comments made. I wasn't in that thread trying to comment on who would have done a better job, etc., and didn't. You're wrong to try to lay that crap on me. Why not go back to that thread and bitch at the Trump fan-boys (and girl), and the other Trump-haters, who really did the hijacking, instead of coming here and unjustifiably singling me out?Beebs52 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 3:47 pmI tried to say stuff non political just because this is so fucking momentous. I started this thread because I wanted to express my view that I think things have been handled well. It's the most dominant thing that I've been thinking about. It's what I would say (and have said) to people who are friends. And I would also tell them that I'm glad that Trump isn't president, whether they like him or, like me, hate him. I'm not asking you or anyone else to agree with me, and I'm not trying to start an argument or persuade anybody. Started a new thread to express those thoughts, thinking that it would be more appropriate to do that instead of doing it in "your thread."
And if you don't like my post because I added that last line about being smart enough to steal the election, I really think you should just chill a little.

Re: I think the Biden Administration
One smart decision the Biden Administration made was to call out Russia's strategy before Russia actually executed its tactics. Doing so completely undercut Russia's efforts to use a pretext as an excuse for the invasion. It didn't stop the invasion, but it helped keep the West's response (at the levels of both government at public opinion) unified, and that, in turn, will help keep the sanctions effective because no one will be undermining them on the ground that Russia's actions were somehow justified. --Bobwbtravis007 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 1:42 pmhas handled this very well so far.

Re: I think the Biden Administration
I'm much more interested in President Biden's defense of American interests than in his defense of Ukrainian interests. And I can't see that it's in America's best interests to insert troops into a land war in Europe, which is what the Ukrainian people probably want. Perhaps you want American soldiers to fight and die in Ukraine, but if so, I disagree, as do the vast majority of the American people.
This is not our war to fight. Our job is to assist those who are fighting it, with supplies, economic sanctions, and (possibly) cyberattacks, and even that will require the willingness of the American people to accept a very real hit to our economy when Russia strikes back. I'll ask you the same question Spock ducked. Are you, personally, willing to bear that price, which will come in higher energy costs and higher inflation? Or do you want something for nothing?
This fight belongs to the Ukrainian people and those among the Russian people who oppose Putin's war. And President Biden's actions have made it much easier for the latter ranks to swell. --Bob

Re: I think the Biden Administration
I can understand the sentiments of those Republicans (and a few Democrats) who wanted us to take a stronger stance in regard to moving troops in. What I can't stomach are those who continue to apologize for Putin and justify Trump's stance, even though they can't point to much of anything he did that would ever deter Putin other than sucking up to the Russian for four years. Donald Trump was a 21st century Eddie Haskell when it came to dictators like Putin.Bob78164 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 10:30 amAnd I can't see that it's in America's best interests to insert troops into a land war in Europe, which is what the Ukrainian people probably want. But what the vast majority of these Biden-bashers want isn't more decisive action in Ukraine. They just want Biden to look bad (and Trump look good in comparison based on a highly oversimplified and inaccurate metric) and have no real suggestions about what to do in Ukraine. Even today, Biden has to move in conjunction with our NATO allies. He can't unilaterally boot the Russians out of SWIFT.
And here's what another Putin admirer, Steve Bannon had to say about Ukraine today: "Ukraine’s not even a country. It’s kind of a concept. It’s not even a country .. It’s just a corrupt area that the Clinton’s turned into a colony where they can steal money out of.”

I see that you responded this morning to the inquiry that I made the other day in the other thread. I've just posted a response to that there, but I don't think that you really addressed what I was asking about. So, I'm pasting that same inquiry again here:
I’m curious about what you think Trump would be doing now or that Putin might have thought that he would do that would have deterred him. Conventional war? Nuclear? Or something else that I’m not thinking of? What would you be in favor of doing or threatening?

Risking starting WW3 here would be insane.
