Strange Sight from Kyiv

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Wed Feb 23, 2022 10:22 pm

The Russian attack has clearly started, and several reporters have heard explosions in Kyiv and other large cities. But they've got footage from the news channels and the power is still on, cars are still going around on the streets (limited numbers because it's 6:00 in the morning there and there's no sign of alarms or police sirens. Contrast that to Baghdad on the first night of the Gulf War, when large chunks of the city were on fire. Reports are that these are missile strikes as opposed to air strikes. I'm sure that they aren't allowing reporters anywhere near sensitive military areas that may have been targeted, but Kyiv doesn't have the look of a city that's at war yet.

Could be related to the cyber attacks earlier, knocking out that level of infrastructure, and targeting the military sites.

It's now dawn and clear that there's a full-scale invasion underway.
