You seem to want to be a source for 'medical' knowledge, however, it is very apparent your medical knowledge is tainted by your political bias and bigotry.
Medical knowledge is not tainted by political bias and bigotry. We don't have Democratic and Republican diseases, treatments, or vaccines. And if you knew anything about Weyoun, you'd know that his politics are quite different from the Bobs and me. What he's provided us is a result of years of training and hands-on experience that none of us have.

Your "medical knowledge," on the other hand, seems exclusively based on your political bias and bigotry, as you consistently reject any and all scientific opinion that conflicts with what you, Spock, and an embalmer from Alabama would like to believe.

No I'm actually giving you the opportunity to explain yourself. When you use a term like that as an epithet, you need to define it. I'm giving you the chance. I think you just threw it out there, like someone using the N-word, with just as much thought put into it. So give me your well-informed, medically appropriate, scientific definition of the word.
I don’t “need” to do anything.
I didn't ask for the opinions of the peanut gallery. I'm asking you. You seem to want to be a source for 'medical' knowledge, however, it is very apparent your medical knowledge is tainted by your political bias and bigotry. Your refusal to defend your use of the epithet 'antivaxxer' shows this clearly. It is clearly not a scientific term, and your use of it calls into question any 'medical' opinion or advice you give out. I sympathize with any of your patients who happen to have a different political perspective than you hold.
One pattern I’ve noticed with you and the rest of your crowded that you assume I must be some kind of horrible doctor because of politics. At first I was deeply insulted by that, but as I have come to know you and others, I realize that you have to use that insult, because you don’t have a viable argument.

Politics don’t matter as much as you think they do. We don’t ask about people’s politics in the emergency department.

A lot of times, folks are so sick we wouldn’t have the time to do so.

And believe it or not, our motivation to do this job is to help people, despite all the cynicism it has encouraged lately.

You’ve also never had to deal with the active dying or comfort their families. I think if you had to do that, you would be less worried about people’s immediate politics as opposed to how politics leads to that awful situation.

Furthermore, our staff is diverse politically. That would be not tolerated if any worker was so biased. Legally and professionally, it would cause all sorts of problems.

So not only is it a cheap and tawdry insult, it doesn’t reflect the reality of what’s going on in hospitals. Which is no surprise, because you don’t know anything about that.

Your opinion is clearly formed by what you want to believe politically. Let’s go back to the example of those white clots. I gave you a biological explanation as to why those clots do not make any sense. You don’t have a counter example, because you don’t know biology. You have trouble interpreting a glorified press release from the University of Michigan, for example. You don’t understand how things work and you don’t care to understand, because that would be politically inconvenient for you, and because you are an old dog and you are out of tricks.

So it is incredibly ironic that you would make such an allegation. Your whole position needs willful ignorance to have any sort of semblance of workability.

And you can also see why I’m unwilling to let you frame the argument in your terms.

Just the same questions I am asking. Apparently politics has deeply infiltrated the 'science' of medicine in many people's eyes that are more qualified than me.

I just observed your initial response to Spock's links, which he entitled 'It is probably nothing', was to defame a colleague of yours, to bring up 'MAGA' and to assume that this guy was from the 'backwoods', with all the stereotypes and bigotry that implies. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think it said where he was from. Perhaps he practiced in downtown Birmingham or Mobile. Would that have lent him more credibility in your eyes? Your initial response was not scientific, it was belligerent. Perhaps you did not recognize that, but I did. Which was the only reason I replied to this thread. It looks to me that you have unconscious bias. You need to examine that.

Just one example: There are many medical practitioners that are just as, or more qualified, than you, that believe and have evidence that therapeutics can have a very beneficial effect on treating covid. Now I don't know if it was you, and if it wasn't I apologize, but someone in the bored discussions referenced 'horse-dewormer'. In any event, if it wasn't you, I don't think you bothered to correct it. If you are truly a doctor you would know that it's usage and effectiveness depends on the dosage. Where are you on that? Why is that deceitful meme so prevalent and why are 'doctors' and 'scientists' not pushing back on that piece of misinformation? I have no clue whether therapeutics can and do work, How would I? But from the first time Trump brought it up, the whole subject became politicized into oblivion. Is that the way medical science operates these days?

Those are the questions I have, doctor, and why I have been so adamant that you explain yourself. Spare me your virtue signaling. And spare me your medical analysis and how I don't know biology. I haven't asked for that, questioned that and I will give you that. Talk about your unconscious bias. Your 'microaggressions' if you will. Your interaction on this bored does nothing but add more credibility to the theory that medical science has become politicized.

First, Richard Hirschman is not a "colleague" of Weyoun's unless by colleague you mean fellow human being. He lives in Ozark, AL, population around 15,000 just above the Florida line in SE Alabama, not the most urbanized part of the state. He attended the Alabama Aviation College in Ozark, which is a community college offering courses in airline piloting and mechanics. I'd agree he probably knows more about fixing a plane than I do. He also took courses in "funeral director, embalmer" at Jefferson Community College, another community college in Birmingham. He's not on LinkedIn.

The requirements for a licensed embalmer in Alabama are to complete a two-year apprenticeship under a licensed embalmer and complete a course of instruction at an approved embalming school or college. I guess Jefferson Community College counts. So while he has some degree of medical knowledge, it's certainly nowhere near what a doctor would have.

But it's clear when you refer to Hirschman as a "colleague" of Weyoun, that you either did not read anything that's been posted other than the usual dog-whistles or that you did not understand it. You seem at times to delight in your ignorance by saying that you don't know and don't want to know whether those claims are valid or not. But you then somehow translate your own willful ignorance into a condemnation of those who have studied the validity of the claims and say they're all motivated by a political agenda. You also make a blanket statement about "therapeutics." There have been a number of substances that have had a demonstrated proven beneficial effect on treating COVID, including remdesivir. That doesn't mean that every so-called "therapeutic" has been accepted by the medical and scientific community.

This will be the last time I click on any of your posts on this bored. You will be on ignore from now on. You can bad mouth me, mock me or whatever to your heart's content. I will not see it.

You, as is typically the case, do not know what you are talking about, and have knee jerkingly responded to my post just to poke a stick at me personally, as always. I have stated several times that I do not know and do not care if Mr. Hirschman's article is factually correct or not. But you and the doctor keep trying to convince me that it is not. Let me repeat: I DO NOT CARE. Read this, if you bother to get this far:
This reminds me of a sort of colleague.

She is a doctor from rural Texas. She absolutely refuses to get the vaccine. She cites seeing her patients and family members with side effects.

Sure, that is POSSIBLE. But I checked out her hospital once, and it was a critical access facility that saw something like 8000 people a year, and she lives and practices in a county with a low vaccination rate.

Seems like AWFULLY BAD LUCK that the handful of people in that county who were vaccinated had problems, but no one else saw nothing - not a thing! - happen to them. Really weird!

Oh and she was the purveyor of MAGAism and takes "my Ivy" every day for Covid.
That is the colleague to whom I am referring. And it is clearly obvious that you are responding to something you have not bothered to spend any time trying to comprehend. I believe, based on all my previous interaction with you, that is an instinctive trait you carry.

That was the doctor's FIRST response to the articles that Spock posted. THAT, and some subsequent statements by the doctor, is what I am referring to and it is the only reason I responded to this thread. And, although I let myself get sidetracked by distractors placed by you and others, my posts are now directed to dr. weyoun alone, not to you, not to bob or bj. I have asked you all to respect that, but you will not respect anything, you just want to pile on. Go right ahead, if it makes you feel better.

To Dr Weyoun,
Again, I do not know and do not care about whether Mr. Hirschman's findings are correct, incorrect or whatever. I do not care whatever flaws you might detect in it. And I do not want you to reiterate your medical opinion of anything. I wouldn't understand it anyway.

I am, however, confused.

You, if I am reading it correctly among all the scattershooting, say that one of the reasons you reject Mr. Hirschman's findings is because of the description of blood clots.
And you told me, even though I told you I had no interest in it, that you already told us your medical justification for it in a previous post. If I am getting the correct post, this is what you said:
I like how you offered a picture of a cartoon.

That’s great.

Clots dark in color because they build up with red cells and other debris.

Platelets have a light gray-white color under microscope, but the rest of the coagulation cascade, like fibrin, is dark.

Anyway, I thought it was super cute that you posted an article about how Covid causes clotting. Yes it does. Yes it does.
If I understand your argument correctly, and I stipulate, as you said, I know nothing about biology, Mr. Hirschman's description of a blood clot being white and stringy
completely invalidates everything else he claims, in your eyes.

That is where I am confused. If you scroll down in the first link that Spock posted, Mr. Hirschman has included several PHOTOS. The first photo claims to show blood clots
he got from one of his cadaver's legs. To my untrained eye, they very much resemble your description of blood clots.

In a subsequent photo, he shows what he found when he cleaned off the red cells and other debris from those things he found. To me, they look white and stringy.

There is no place in his article that contains a 'cartoon'. The cartoon was in a subsequent post by beebs.

Correct me where I'm wrong, if you want to bother. But did you get confused?

If you don't know and don't care if the embalmer's claim is accurate, then why are you so dead certain that the only reason we doubt it is because of our political agenda and intent on railing about our political agenda over and over? Apparently, you're more concerned about my politics than the effectiveness and safety of vaccines.

Oh, I forgot you're ignoring me.

Just wondering, doctor: Did you get confused?

Were those photos of blood clots in your astute medical opinion? Or are you just going to ignore me because I am not worthy of your attention, me not knowing anything about biology and all?
You can correct me, it won't hurt my feelings. I have my own personal stalker whose job it is to 'call me out' on everything I post. I'm used to it. He should stalk Sean Hannity and skip the middleman, but what can you do?.

I'd love to be called out on this and your antivaxxer slur. What do you say, doctor sir?

Since when have I ever been concerned with the direction, consensus of the bored?
I still have not gotten an answer from dr. weyoun and he seems to have disappeared. Am I being too rough on him?

Also: was anyone else been amazed how the 'science' has miraculously shifted overnight so that Congress didn't have to wear masks for the SOTU? Even CNN was amazed.
I think we all assumed that when 'science' was referenced it meant medical science. Now we know it was political science.

Has anyone heard from the doctor lately?
C'mon, Flock, we're moving on from Covid hand-wringing.

He's probably just bored with trying to explain numbers to the determinedly innumerate.

When COVID is widespread (as it has been until recently) and infectious even among the vaccinated (as omicron is), then refusing to wear a mask is very risky to others because you may unknowingly infect them. When COVID becomes less widespread (as is becoming the case), the risk declines. We've reached the point where the risk of infecting others is outweighed by the inconvenience caused by masks. It was bound to happen sooner or later. --Bob

You're taking up reserved space, bob.

Edited: I take back this question, bob. I remember that last week the CDC updated its mask guidelines. I certainly question their timing, but I will concede that could have been used as Pelosi's reasoning.

Too much to ask for him to comprehend what he is responding to.

I did NOT ask him anything to do with numbers or medical science, bob. Pay f***ing attention for once.
I asked him for his definition of 'antivaxxer' and I asked him whether the photo in Spock's article was not of bloodclots.

This is now your question I will be pestering for which I will be pestering you for an answer. Give me the specific numbers Pelosi, who is in charge of this, used before and after she made the unilateral decision to allow an overflow crowd of people on the floor of congress to discard their masks.
Pester away. Electrons are cheap, and I don't think anyone who's not already in the tank for Donny takes you at all seriously.

But I'm pretty sure she relied on the recent guidance from the CDC, probably in consultation with the House physician. --Bob

In the meantime, before I saw this, I edited my post and conceded this when I remembered the new CDC guidance from last week.

You brought up mask-wearing at the State of the Union address.

Why do you care? You're more interested in an embalmer's opinion anyway.

Is it too much to ask that you and bob actually read and comprehend what you are responding to? I have made it abundantly clear I am not interested in any way what your opinion is of the contents of the enbalmer's story. I asked you 2 very specific questions about your posts in this thread. Will you at long last answer them, or are you going to keep dodging them because you have no answers that will serve to maintain your masquerade as an unbiased man of science?
