RIP T-Bone

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Mon Jan 31, 2022 9:44 am

The following sad news has just been posted on Facebook.
Thom passed away this morning around 8:00 am. Turns out it was his muscular dystrophy that was causing his BP and heart rate to escalate. Apparently that is a prevalent occurance in people with advanced muscular dystrophy. The occurance of an illness (in this case covid) combined with weakness and muscle deterioration makes the heart muscles too weak to do the work. This causes the heart to race and BP to elevate.
This was probably what his "mini panic attacks" actually were to begin with. Not anxiety, but the heart itself. The two can be practically identical when it starts.
Last night he had another episode of this and he did not come out of it. As per his request he did not want to be put on ventilator or respirator. He was made extremely comfortable. His heart gave out this morning. He passed comfortably and in his sleep.
Thank you for all your heart felt compassion and prayers. It has meant the world to us. Hugs from my mother, myself, and the family to all who loved Thom.

People on this list are going to wait for his best-music list for 2021 a long time. I didn't write that to his step-daughter but maybe I should have.

A good & gentle, in the true sense of that word man is gone.

Wow, that hurts. And unlike Judy and Christy, he was posting with us up to the end, which makes it hurt even worse.

Condolences to the family.

Sad news indeed.
Rest in peace Thom.

As SSS pointed out, it hits a little harder as he was posting here just last week.

This is so hard. He was a funny, smart, kind and talented man.

I found this the other day looking for his band history etc. Didn't post because it was too not ominous but too close?
But, he could sing like a bird.

Thom said years ago that he didn't expect to live a full complement of years; I think his mom died of basically his same condition at either 50 or 60, I don't recall.

In a way I am glad this was only a week or so from start to finish. But I am so, so sad, y'all, not for him but for me. I am so glad for him that he is no longer suffering.

Thom and his wife took me to Cooperstown, and it was magic on more than one level.

He was one of my favorites.

Man, I am so sorry to hear this, and am feeling very sad. His sense of decency and extraordinarily gentle but powerful spirit were so evident.

A big loss for the world and this board. My heart goes out to all of his loved ones.

I am so sad to learn about this.

I had convinced myself I would meet him in person someday.

The other day, when I was cleaning out my office/craft room, I put on some music that T-Bone had shared with me.

He died the next morning.

We'd have these music discussions on Evil Facebook Messenger. I'd tell him about some new music I'd heard and liked - maybe through Saturday Night Live or my cousins'/friends' children or grandchildren.

He'd tell me "Well, if you liked them, then find some music by these guys."

I will miss that something awful.
