Morning T-bone news

#1 Post by a1mamacat » Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:53 am

Thom did not have a good night, and Nancy was called in early by the team to make decisions on how to make him more comfortable….that it was time to make him more comfortable…

Added my prayers to Tracy's message.

I had been so encouraged - then reading the last couple of days of her messages has been so difficult.

From his step-daughter about an hour ago:

"UPDATE: Apparently the Patrick who called my mother at 6:55 am this morning saying "It's time to make him more comfortable" is.. well I don't want to say about what he is. But my mom would like to find out who it is and have some words.
Her and my brother Mike raced there this morning. Waited, waited some more, then a doctor finally came after 1:00pm and talked to them about giving Thom a sedative so he could sleep. They at that point lost their sh🤬t a bit. Proceeded to talk to that doctor (Dr. Robb (sp?) AT LENGTH about all that had been said this week and all the misinformation, as well as miscommunication.
The doctor did not want to comment much on that, but she hopes that now that he's aware, he'll be addressing the issue. Then they all spoke at length on his care and what can be done. Basically at this point it goes like this...
Thom is weak, he's barely slept, he's not eating great, he's anxious, and right now what he needs most is some rest. Thom himself said "I just want some sleep, I need some sleep".
Other than that most recent blood tests showed that his blood oxygen is doing very well. And provided he's on the right oxygen his O2 levels continue yo hold. But the congestion and the fact he can't bring it up is a real concern. Continuing to suction through the nose could start to damage the nasal lining, then he'll have issues breathing through his nose.
There is discussion on what's the best route. They're talking about a BiPAP machine possibbly tracheostomy, but maybe the trach might not be necessary if the BiPAP machine is enough. If a respirator is necessary the nearest one will be to send him to Long Island. Thom said no at that point. No respirator. He said if it came to that, just make him comfortable.
As of right now, O2 is holding, but he is getting very weak, and the congestion is a concern that they are working on and those are the routes that might need to be taken depending on how he continues to progress.
He'll be sedated tonight, to get some sleep. Hoping it helps. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers please.

What's his last name? I have resources.

The lastest news on FB today is guardedly a little better.

That hospitals have their own schedules on how fast patients "should be expected to improve" makes me very angry. Especially with this new-to-all disease interacting with his muscular disease. They were reducing T-Bone's O2 too fast, & have dialed that back to what he needs to continue to recover.

Glad to see you are OK Ghost. I was just thinking of you this morning with concern as it has been awhile since I had seen you post. Granted, I don't see all the posts and I may have missed some of yours, but the sentiment still stands.

Since she said "the fact he can't bring it up is a real concern," I assume the congestion is in his lungs. I wonder why they can't suction orally to avoid damaging the nasal lining.

Best wishes, Mr. Bone!
